Certification standards have an essential part to play in ensuring the safety and integrity of our food, from ingredients to finished products, and from supply chains to processing units. However, to compete more advantageously and to protect their brand, many businesses are going beyond compliance. And this is where the LRQA Assurance Programmes come into play


The Certification Officer will play an integral role within this, working within the team in ensuring audit delivery is delivered to a high standard by qualified and trained auditors, meeting the KPI/specification of LRQA clients and assisting with the planning operation for all LRQA schemes and allocations of the audits to ensure delivery on time to agreed Client KPI’s


The Certification Officer will be responsible for working with the agricultual Team to support the running of the agricultural Schemes. They will be responsible for evaluating and certifying assessment reports in accordance with UKAS accreditation requirements and scheme owner KPIs and also delivering a first-class customer service experience.


The Certification Officer will be required to undergo relevant scheme training and, where relevant, achieve pass rates in any associated exams/on-line tests to allow them to make certification decisions and ultimately deliver assessments to the principle schemes.


The Certification Officer will be required to routinely provide feedback on the viability and accuracy of process, work instructions and quality procedures and where required participate in the UKAS office assessment for the relevant scopes, attend UKAS witnessed assessments.


Key Responsibilities:


Manage the Certification Process for Dairy Members - evaluating and certifying

Carry out application reviews and process scheme members/participants applications in accordance with the relevant Quality Procedures, meeting scheme SLA’s and KPI’s, updataing internal systesm with member information.

Ensure that information relating to members and participants is maintained and updated in accordance with relevant scheme SLA’s and KPIs.

Provide scheme support to auditors, members, participants and scheme staff.

Ensure that databases and client portals are updated in a timely manner, especially where membership, auditor, or client data changes.

Log corrective evidence onto the databases in a timely manner to ensure the certification process meets KPI’s.

Issue correspondence and certificates in line with Quality Procedures and KPI’s.

Participate in internal audits and manage close out of actions as required.

Administration of Joiners & Leavers, for applicable schemes

Focus on continual improvement of services to members, auditors and participants by taking part in internal and external events as required.




Tertiary qualification in Dairy or a relevant agriculture subject or a minimum of 2 years practical experience in the field of agriculture 

Hold an approved certification qualification (Red Tractor or equivalent) and/or experience in delivering or participating in farm assurance audits 

Dairy Farm Experience

Knowledge and understanding of UK agriculture industry legislation and Codes of Practice.

Knowledge of agricultural quality assurance schemes within the livestock sector, including food safety assurance, traceability and organic certification.



Excellent verbal and written communication skills either over the phone with a scheme member or when completing application forms for members or writing reports Focus on attention to detail

Ability to work without supervision

Ability to handle difficult customers and have difficult conversations, often over the phone

Well organised with the ability to plan and schedule work effectively

Ability to prioritise workload effectively

IT literate and experienced with Microsoft Office
