Role purpose:


The Food Assurance Manager will a member of the Leadership team and a Senior Member of the Business Assurance Team and they will play an integral role within the business to support other Senior Managers in making business decisions and for inspiring and motivating the teams they manage.


Managing and developing the teams to build capacity and capability to meet strategic business objectives.


The Food Assurance Manager will lead and Manage the Food Teams which include the Agriculture teams, through to Food Manufacturing and retail. to ensure management of the teams and delivery of service is delivered to a high standard meeting the KPI’s/specification of LRQA clients across all our Food Assurance clients.


The Food Assurance Manager will be accountable and responsible for managing the Teams across the business area as well as working collaboratively with other Senior Managers


Working alongside other Senior Manager and the Leadership Team across Business Assurance, as one team to ensure  all areas are supported across the end to end supply Chain, working collaboratively together to ensure effective ways of working and resource for Clients allowing us to be  forward planning/thinking of Technical and adding value where required to Clients suggesting solutions and Technical innovation as required.


The Food Assurance Manager will be responsible for pulling together a road map across the Food Assurance areas to bring “one view” of Technical status and delivery of all services and will have a global appreciation and sound knowledge of agriculture and food manufacturing and supply chain, including awareness of industry legislation and codes of practice thus allowing them to provide technical support for the Certification Team, assessors, scheme owners, client account managers and the sales teams.


The Food  Assurance Manager will support Senior Management and clients in a Client Relationship Manager role attending client and scheme owner meetings and be available to support the Sales Team with technical queries relating to tenders for new business in the relevant sectors and also able to provide technical reviews on consultation documents.


The Food Assurance Manager will play an integral role within the agricultural and Food Manufacturing area to ensure delivery of Technical services is delivered to a high standard meeting the KPI’s/specification of LRQA clients across all agricultural areas, supporting the  Certification Team with certification decisions, ensuring that the certification process is delivered in accordance with UKAS accreditation requirements and scheme owner KPIs; supporting the field based assessment team through training, performance reviews and sign off; liaising with key clients, conducting assessments, in particular rapid response assessments, and ultimately ensuring delivery of first class customer service experience within the sector.





Technical / Professional Qualifications / Requirements:

Agricultural or Food Science Degree or equivalent degree

Food Industry Knowledge

5 Years’ Experience and knowledge of the Food Industry

Agricultural/Food Manufacturing Auditing Experience

Experience of managing and leading a team                 

Leadership skills and experience

Experience of managing Clients

Experience in certification

Lead Auditor Qualifications


Red Tractor Trained

Understanding of quality management systems, policies, quality procedures, work instructions

Tracking delivery performance/contract KPIs and reporting management

BRCGS Trained
