A Lead Structural Specialist (Contractor) to join our Offshore discipline team in Aberdeen.  This team has substantial expertise in providing independent assurance for the design and operational aspects of offshore and onshore structures for a range of industries including the renewable and oil and gas sectors.

The role 

 

  • Undertake design appraisal activities with respect to offshore structures including fixed, near shore, and floating offshore steel structures.
  • Ability to carry out independent modelling and analysis of offshore structures using standard FEA packages.
  • Contributing to the preparation of bids and tenders for offshore design appraisal projects.
  • Assisting in the development of technical guidance notes, technical work for papers to be presented at seminars and conferences, and co-ordinate technology development projects within LR.
  • Actively participate in relevant training to pursue continuing professional development.

 

What you bring 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Extensive experience in the design of steel structures in an offshore environment with comprehensive experience in the design and analysis of offshore and onshore structures;
  • Good understanding of nonlinear analysis of offshore structures.
  • Experience in analysis and design of steel structures to international codes and standards (e.g. ISO, AISC, Eurocode, etc.).
  • Experience in using and interpreting the output of appropriate engineering software such as STAAD.Pro, SACS, USFOS, ABAQUS, ANSYS etc.,
  • Good communication skills (including technical report writing), the ability to work to tight deadlines, and adaptability.
