As a global organisation we can offer career development opportunities all around the world and as a result of our continued success we are now seeking a Structural Specialist to join the Fixed Structures Team in Aberdeen. This team has substantial expertise in providing independent assurance for design and operational aspects of offshore and onshore structures for a range of industries including the renewable and oil and gas sectors.

 

Reporting to the Fixed Structures Team Leader, the key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Undertake design appraisal activities with respect to offshore structures including fixed, near shore  and floating offshore structures to ensure compliance with specified rules, codes, Regulations, standards and specifications within agreed parameters including budget and contractual requirements;
  • To contribute to the preparation of bids and tenders for offshore projects.
  • To conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards.
  • Actively participate in relevant training to pursue continuing professional development.

 

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering;
  • Relevant experience in the design of steel structures in an offshore environment with comprehensive experience in the design and analysis of offshore and onshore structures;
  • Experience in using international codes and standards (e.g. API RP2A, ISO 19902, AISC, Euro code etc.) for design of Jacket or Topside structures.
  • Experience in analysis and design of topside modules on floating structure. Familiarity and good understanding of LR class rules for offshore units would be an advantage.
  • Experience in using and interpreting the output of appropriate engineering software such as STAAD.Pro, SACS,  ABAQUS, ANSYS  etc.,
  • Effective communications in written and spoken English with the ability to prepare discuss and present deliverables to a client.

 

General Requirements:

  • Preferably a member of a recognised professional body for example ICE, IStructE or IMAREST. (or working towards) and working towards chartership;
  • Previous experience in working with an engineering design office would be required.
  • Strong project management and coordination skills
