Role Summary:

As part of your role, you will be part of a team conducting Verification of offshore assets as per the requirements of the Offshore Safety Case Regulations.

 

 Main Responsibilities:

  • Survey safety critical systems on fixed and floating offshore installations.
  • Survey at equipment manufacturer’s works for both verification and certification requirements.
  • Implement and prepare performance standards and written schemes of examination.
  • Conduct audits of Duty Holder’s assurance process to ensure that safety critical systems are being adequately maintained.
  • Control of ‘management of change’ processes for a variety of clients.
  • Provide good control of assigned work, including communicating with clients, financial control, and timely and accurate reporting.
  • Interpret applicable national and international rules and regulations.
  • Understand and apply the basic principles of risk management.
  • Take an active role in all work in the area, proactively managing contracts with focus on service delivery, retention and developing client relationships.
  • Assist in service delivery improvement by communicating internal / external client feedback as appropriate.
  • Conduct relevant activities as agreed in personal training plan with the aim of increasing knowledge and competency in the execution of survey and other related work.
  • Ensure that the appropriate authorisations are gained and are kept up to date.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge and awareness.

 

  

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified engineer, however, candidates with other qualifications and relevant industrial experience will be considered.
  • Membership of an appropriate professional institution.
  • Sufficient knowledge to obtain authorisations to enable survey of electrical / mechanical safety critical elements.
  • Knowledge of class, statutory and industrial surveys with a working knowledge of international codes and standards applicable to the energy business stream would be beneficial.
  • A proven track record of relevant experience.
  • Membership of an appropriate professional institution (I. Eng or equivalent).
  • Ability to work in accordance with professional codes of conduct and the LR Code of Ethics in IMS01.
  • Excellent command (written and oral) in English language using relevant professional terminology.
  • Understanding and interpreting UK offshore legislation.
  • Understanding the basic principles of risk management and interpreting an offshore installation safety case.
  • Understanding of technical and commercial management principles, e.g., project management, process management.
  • European Driving License.
  • Ability and willingness to travel mainly within the area above and on a case by case basis.
  • UK work Visa.

 

Preferred but not required:

  • Previous experience in a classification society and exposure to Marine & Offshore field is highly preferred.
  • Working towards or achieving chartered or incorporated engineering status.
  • Previous auditing experience

  • Is customer focused and driven to achieve excellent customer service.
