We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead the Australasia Naval Liaison Office (NLO) and provide specialist expertise in the naval discipline. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting the team and contributing to projects that deliver commercially focused solutions and services to both internal stakeholders and external clients.

The role
- Lead the Australasia Naval Liaison Office (NLO) and actively contribute to the Naval Centre of Expertise (NCoE) and leadership team, helping shape naval strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure global consistency across the naval structure.
- Serve as the primary liaison between Lloyd’s Register and regional government agencies and navies, strengthening LR’s presence and strategic positioning within the sector.
- Monitor industry trends and competitor developments within the naval sector, identifying and recommending areas for research and future service development to enhance LR’s competitive advantage.
- Manage and respond to client feedback, ensuring timely implementation of actions and solutions that uphold high standards of service delivery.
- Provide oversight to projects within the naval discipline, ensuring they meet quality standards, cost expectations, and contractual obligations.
- Present deliverables to senior external clients, advising on the most appropriate solutions and offering alternatives where needed.
- Deliver specialist guidance and technical support within the naval sector, building and maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to resolve service issues and support business growth.
- Coordinate with other business areas and regional offices to ensure consistent development and delivery of commercial and service solutions.
- Translate business plans and cost structures into actionable objectives, driving system, process, and procedural improvements within the business area.
- Mentor and coach team members to promote effective knowledge transfer, skill development, and high performance.
- Lead and manage the team, including responsibility for recruitment, training, performance management, and professional development to maintain an effective and competitive service offering.
- Ensure operational systems, processes, and procedures are robust, efficient, and aligned with internal business needs and external client expectations.
What you bring
- A degree or equivalent qualification from a tertiary institution recognized by Lloyd’s Register in a relevant engineering or physical science discipline (minimum two-year program), or qualifications from a marine or nautical institution with relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship’s officer.
- Membership in a relevant professional institution.
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, appropriate to the requirements of the role.
- A strong understanding of project management principles, supported by relevant training and hands-on experience.
- Prior experience in monitoring and managing budgets.
- Deep knowledge and understanding of the naval sector, including its operational and regulatory landscape.
- Proven experience in successfully leading and managing teams.
- Demonstrated involvement in business and strategic planning processes.
- Experience in managing commercial or naval client accounts, with a focus on relationship building and service delivery.
