What we’re looking for 

 

To lead and conduct audits for ISM, ISPS and MLC compliance on board ships and offices. Carry out document review as required by LR MMS procedures.

Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of management systems and procedures in place to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

To assess complex problems for internal / external clients where the parameters are not well defined and to determine solutions where previous experience does not provide any precedent. The role may also include managing projects.

 The role 

  

  • Conduct shipboard and office audits to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Complete detailed audit reports, outlining findings, non-conformities and recommendations.
  • Provide expert guidance and technical support on ISM, ISPS, and MLC standards to clients.
  • Stay informed with regulatory changes and industry best practises to enhance audit processes.
  • Liaise with ship owners, operators, and other stakeholders to discuss audit processes and outcomes.
  • Offer consultancy services to improve clients’ compliance and operational effectiveness.
  • Conduct training sessions for clients and internal staff on ISM, ISPS, and MLC requirements.
  • Mentor auditors-on-development, share knowledge, and provide references for training material.
  • To perform complex assessments and provide specialist advice for service delivery, research or development work within agreed broad parameters that include budget constraints and contractual requirements.
  • To produce the deliverable within the agreed broad parameters in an appropriate format and take responsibility to review other employee’s work as requested.
  • To discuss / present the deliverable with the internal / external client at a senior level and be able to suggest alternative solutions where appropriate.
  • Undertake administration as required in line with current processes and procedures.
  • To assess / recommend the time / value of the work to be undertaken for an internal / external client within an agreed fee / cost structure and within the commercial aspects of the contract.
  • To make recommendations based on internal / external client feedback to assist in service delivery improvement and to help build the business.
  • To contribute to internal / external client management as appropriate.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
  • To pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • To mentor / coach other technical employees to achieve effective technical knowledge transfer and application.
  • To undertake project management where applicable including monitoring project progress and spend against budget and contract requirements.

 

What you bring 

 

  • Relevant degree ideally preferred in an Engineering, Project Management or Science subject.
  • Have 0 to 3 years’ experience of project management protocols ideally working as part of project teams.
  • Awareness and application of project management tools (APM, Prince2 etc.) and processes whilst adhering to legal and commercial requirements.
  • Adaptable and well organised with a practical minded approach and the ability to work to tight deadlines. Takes ownership of work assigned and completes to the expected level of Quality.
  • Possessing good communication skills, including technical report writing, having the ability to adapt and work to tight deadlines.
  • Proven experience and knowledge of effective and timely co-ordination of budgets and financial processes relating to various projects.
  • Pragmatic, empathetic and credible with clients and have a high standard of personal presentation.
  • Good influencing and motivational skills demonstrated through advice, counsel or facilitating services to others.
