What we’re looking for 

We are looking for an experienced Senior Specialist (Auditor) to deliver ISM & ISO 9001/14001/45001/50001 office and ships audits, and ISPS & MLC ship audits, and to produce required audits deliverables within the agreed parameters. The person will be required to provide knowledge and knowledge on ISM, ISPS. MLC & ISO standards both internally & externally through day-to-day activities related to Maritime Management Systems. This position is based in Athens, Greece, and covers the relevant activities in the location and South Europe Area, and occasional work outside of the location may also be expected to cover business needs.

The role:

• To carry out ISM & ISO 9001/14001/45001/50001 office and ships audits, and ISPS & MLC ship audits, and related plans reviews, and to produce required audits and reviews deliverables within the agreed parameters.
• To conduct Maritime Management Systems related activities for the South Europe Area, at the Maritime Management Systems Office Manager’s instruction and in line with contractual requirements & budget constraints, internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and IACS/industry standards and undertake administration as required in line with these.
• To discuss / present deliverables with internal / external clients at a senior auditor level and be able to suggest alternative solutions where/as appropriate
• To monitor internal ERP & other systems and applications, and objectives & targets set for Maritime Management Activities in South Europe, and follow up & implement necessary actions
• To support the Maritime Management Systems Office for South Europe and other departments on Maritime Management Activities related technical matters, respond to client queries, take responsibility to review Maritime Management Systems work and reports, and carry out NCNs reviews and follow up
• Maintain and further develop the competencies of less experienced MMS auditors through learning and development planning (in co-operation with line managers)
• Support and deliver training and update courses of Maritime Management Systems auditors in co-operation with the Maritime Management Systems Office Manager
• To mentor / coach other technical employees to ensure effective technical auditor knowledge transfer and application.
• To contribute to internal / external client management as appropriate
• To pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness
• To make recommendations based on internal / external client feedback to assist in service delivery improvement and to help improving the business.
• Respond to urgent internal & external requests and queries in the Maritime Management Systems Office Manager’s absence
• Ensure own and colleagues technical auditors authorizations are up to date, and refresh learning and development is planned and reviewed accordingly (in co-operation with line managers)

What you bring

• A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd’s Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of two years programme) or Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated Senior ship’s officer.
• at least 10 years years’ experience in areas relevant to the technical or operational or safety aspects of shipboard operational management, gained through ship classification or statutory surveys and audits, sea-going service as a certificated senior watch-keeping officer, employment in a safety related or technical/operational role in a ship management company (for example DPA, Safety Manager, Technical manager, Superintendent, or Operations manager) or a combination of these
• considerable auditing experience and knowledge within the marine/maritime field and with ISO audits
• proficiency in the English language and appropriate for auditing
• Membership of a relevant professional institution.
• Chartered or incorporated engineering status or working toward it.
