We are looking for an innovative solution architect to develop and implement systems architecture that will meet our business needs.   This role will report to the Lead Enterprise Architect when the vacancy has been filled and in the interim will report to the Head of Digital Delivery. 

 

 

 

You will be responsible for gathering requirements and functional specifications, assessing current systems in place in order to identify areas that need improvement.   You will also take ownership for implementing successful, predictable and repeatable technology-based solutions that meet the needs of business stakeholders

Working alongside LRQA’s selected partners during the design and implementation of business technology solutions you will take ownership for the lifecycle of individual solution architecture projects (Analysis, Design, Build, Test, Deploy)

Role Purpose:

 

 

You will be responsible for gathering requirements and functional specifications, assessing current systems in place in order to identify areas that need improvement.   You will also take ownership for implementing successful, predictable and repeatable technology-based solutions that meet the needs of business stakeholders

Working alongside LRQA’s selected partners during the design and implementation of business technology solutions you will take ownership for the lifecycle of individual solution architecture projects (Analysis, Design, Build, Test, Deploy)

 

You will:

 

Own the solution architecture lifecycle working closely with the enterprise architecture team during the early stages of the process.

Actively participate to standardise the solution architecture deliverables and input into the Innovation & Technology Solution Design Review to provide design reviews and governance

Support the definition of LRQA solution and enterprise architecture principles, policies, standards and patterns. Ensure the definition of technology solutions conforms to the standards and patterns mandated and agreed

As an ambassador for Innovation & Technology, engage with business colleagues to ensure business requirements are well understood and articulate solution designs to meet those requirements

Translate enterprise architecture deliverables such as Architecture Vision and Business Requirements into high and low level solution designs

Take ownership of ensuring delivery of individual solution architecture projects

Participate in the standardisation of LRQA solution architecture capability including documents, principles, policies, standards and methodology.

Manage a range of architecture development projects including traditional sequential approaches as well as agile development techniques

Working with the Change Management team review demand requests and support projects including undertaking impact assessments and supporting the delivery of solutions to the business

Present options for the development of business solutions and discuss options from a range of perspectives including cost, risk, time etc

Demonstrate a deep level of experience in a LRQA specific solution architecture discipline e.g. Microsoft platforms & technologies, Oracle ERP, Open source, Integration, Software Engineering, Security Designs etc

Ensure decisions about the architectural style are robust and meet the need e.g. Packaged Design, Service Oriented Architecture, RESTful design, Microservices

Contribute to discussions about future solution architecture requirements e.g. mobile application development, iPaaS, RESTful architecture designs

Identify areas of LRQA where budget investment would represent value for money

Support enterprise architecture colleagues in business technology roadmap development providing information about the likely impact of project solutions architecture on the overall business technology roadmap

Own the IS solution design for specific projects and programmes, working closely with other Technology and Innovation functions to ensure reuse

 

 

You will have:

 

 

Degree qualified in IS, software engineering, computer science, related field, or equivalent

Proven experience in engineering and software architecture design

Experience in the design and implementation of global solutions

Able to envision, model and optimise complex, yet efficient business processes, data and work-flows

Sound knowledge of various operating systems and databases

Strong organisational and leadership skills with the ability to manage internal teams of up to 20 and third-party teams of up to 50 when proving concepts / feasibility

Strong problem solving, influencing, change management and inter-personal skills

Results-oriented, assertive, flexible and enthusiastic team player with a “can do” attitude.

Exceptional communication skills to develop persuasive business case for change clearly to stakeholders at all levels, building engagement & commitment to action.

Previous experience of working in a global business essential
