Reporting into the Digital Capability Owner, the Test and Release Lead is responsible for managing the testing and release of all system change; applying an appropriate adaptation of ‘Agile’ practices. They will be responsible for the successful delivery of system change within the Capability Team through the team’s delivery, driving the pace of the team output whilst focusing on quality and cost reduction.

 

The Test and Release Lead will be familiar with the Agile methodology and frequent delivery of system change to manage and improve the flow of work.

The Test and Release Lead will be familiar with the Agile methodology and frequent delivery of system change to manage and improve the flow of work.

The Test and Release Lead will be responsible for working with the Capability Leads to understand the Testing and Release pipeline, coordinate testing and actively manage and communicate to stakeholders and wider business teams whilst maintaining Agile principles.

 

The Test and Release Lead will coordinate with all teams to manage delivery and communication of all system change in a controlled manner.  A good knowledge of the business and ability to coordinate business testing but also support testing as required.  

 

Responsibilities

  • Complete ownership of the testing and release process. Ensuring key release reporting metrics.
  • Coordinate scheduled releases providing visibility of current and upcoming release including managing change
  • Translating business requirements into effective test scripts to ensure release items are fully tested
  • Coordinate testing resources, including setting up meetings, explaining test scenarios, gathering testing feedback, coordinate system changes and to overall ensure release items are fully tested and signed off by stakeholders
  • Measure, analyse and improve the performance of the team and look at overall team performance, team happiness, etc. Continuous improvement is key
  • Develop and maintain a successful working relationship with key development partners. Including close coordination throughout the lifecycle of a change item, providing key inputs for testing and release.
  • Hosting weekly meeting testing and release meetings to ensure items are on track, tested and ready for release.  Supporting teams in removing any barriers to success.
  • Provide reports to the Digital Capability Owner on the performance of delivery against targets
  • Direct communication with key stakeholders including partners, business managers and users
  • Manage business communications on all Testing and Release processes including standard weekly and ad-hoc communication.
  • Ensure release notes are kept current and coordinate with internal teams for training material for key release items.
  • Your opinion matters – provide your knowledge, comments and experience in all areas.
  • Additional activities and project support to support an exciting business transformation.

 

To be considered

  • Understanding of the Agile Manifesto
  • Well organised and self-driven to ensure work is coordinated, communicated and completed in-line with expectation.
  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to tell stories, draw pictures and document the performance of your team effectively
  • Understanding of DevOps principles, Kanban and how to manage flow through, Work In Progress Limits and Just in Time Engineering
  • Team management, development and coaching
  • Strong leadership and be able to get the best performance out of the team
  • The natural ability to create a collaborative, team focussed and fun environment
