What we’re looking for
Lloyd’s Register is seeking an experienced Offshore E&I Surveyor with strong competencies in high voltage electrical systems, instrumentation, and explosion protection (Ex). Experience with offshore transformers and electrical systems for offshore wind farms is highly desirable, bringing added value to our growing renewable energy portfolio.
This role plays a key part in delivering assurance and verification services for offshore oil & gas and renewable energy assets, ensuring compliance, safety, and asset reliability in accordance with LR and regulatory requirements.

The role:
- Perform offshore/onshore inspections and surveys of electrical and instrumentation systems, including HV/LV distribution, switchgear, protection systems, power generation, and control/automation.
- Conduct IVB verification of Safety-Critical Elements (SCEs) against Performance Standards requirements and Written Schemes of Verification.
- Inspect Explosion Protection (Ex) installations covering hazardous area equipment, cable systems, and compliance with IEC/ATEX standards.
- Assess and inspect offshore transformers, including:
- Step-up transformers used in offshore wind farms
- Cooling systems, tap changers, and insulation integrity
- Transformer protection and monitoring systems
- Installation and commissioning activities for OSS (Offshore Substation) HVDC systems
- Review electrical documentation such as SLDs, loop diagrams, FAT reports, commissioning test procedures, and HV test records.
- Participate in commissioning activities, functional testing, SATs, and HV switching where applicable.
- Identify and report non‑conformances and provide clear technical recommendations.
- Prepare accurate, professional, and timely inspection/verification reports.
- Liaise with clients and represent LR as a trusted technical expert.
What you bring
- Applicants must have the legal right to work in Indonesia at the time of application. Unfortunately, the company cannot provide visa sponsorship for this role.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or equivalent.
- 10 years of offshore E&I experience, including HV systems, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Proven experience in IVB / Verification / SCE assurance for offshore assets.
- Strong knowledge and hands‑on experience with offshore transformers, ideally within offshore wind farms or offshore substations (OSS).
- Recognized Explosion Protection (Ex) qualification, such as:
- CompEx (Ex01–Ex04 / Ex05–Ex06 / Ex14)
- IECEx Certificate of Personnel Competence
- EEHA certification
- Solid understanding of relevant standards: DNV-ST-0145, IEC TS 63487, IEC 60079 series, IEC 61892, IEEE, API, DNV, ISO.
- Strong communication, technical reporting, and assessment skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with offshore renewable energy systems (HVDC offshore wind substations, array cables, export HV systems).
- Competence in HV authorization or switching (AP/EP/CP certifications).
- Functional safety exposure (IEC 61511 / SIS verification).
- Chartered or professional engineering registration (CEng, PE, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with digital inspection tools and asset integrity databases.
