Role Purpose

To deliver structural engineering scope of works for clients.

Co-ordination and management of client’s offshore structural engineering related scopes of works. 

Identifying client requirements and providing solutions in regard to feasibility, development, construction and operational phases of offshore renewable projects.

To act as a role model/ambassador for both the LR values and leadership behaviours.

 

Your duties will include

  • Take ownership of client’s offshore structural engineering requirements throughout all phases of project lifecycle. Including: feasibility, development, design, construction and operations.
  • Establish and assist as directed in helping grow LR’s offshore structural engineering team.
  • Integrate LR’s structural engineering capability into LR’s ISO 9001 accredited QMS.
  • Discuss and produce proposals and define scope of work required to meet client’s requests. Ensure consistency of proposals to key account clients according to established procedures. 
  • Identify structural engineering opportunities within existing client framework agreements.
  • Present structural engineering solutions both internally and to clients.
  • Undertake administration as required in line with the current processes and procedures.
  • To assist improvement in service delivery by acting on internal/external client feedback.
  • To develop technically other employees, as appropriate and share information to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application.
  • To conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards.
  • Act as a client manager.
  • To pursue continuing professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Maintain and develop a business network within key contacts (clients, universities, institutions, suppliers, competitors, etc.) and participate in competence network activities and conferences where appropriate.
  • Assess the risks and work in a safe manner at all times, robustly implementing health and safety rules, instructions and systems and refuse to undertake work that compromises your safety or health.
  • Report in a timely manner all incidents including near miss and safety observations (NMSO), accidents and injuries and raise any health and safety concerns with your line manager.

 

To be considered

Experience supporting delivery by team of engineering services for offshore wind farms, examples may include one or more of the following:

  • bid preparation
  • contractor negotiation and selection
  • site investigations, measurement campaigns
  • geotechnical design/ modelling
  • concept engineering
  • FEED studies
  • detailed design
  • design of secondary steel
  • operations management
  • failure identification, diagnosis and rectification
  • Evidence of having taken personal responsibility for ensuring complex projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Thorough understanding of a project’s development process, and relevant construction and operations activities on complex wind farm projects.
  • Evidence of technical, commercial and QHSE risk management ownership.
  • Competent analyst, knowledge and demonstrated experience in modelling approaches such as integrated aeroelastic analysis of wind turbines, finite element analysis, computational fluid dynamics and CAD software.
  • Track record in presenting at trade fairs and/or academic conferences.
  • Delivering and devising appropriate internal or external training
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification
  • Experience in senior position, responsible for managing team of technical specialists/ engineers
  • Taking responsibility for personal CPD, ensuring relevant knowledge to deliver services and to feed into discussions about future services to be developed
  • Demonstrate adaptability when it comes to working with unfamiliar management systems or software
  • Knowledge of wind sector, principles of operation of wind turbines, offshore structures, offshore electrical systems, renewable energy markets
  • Excellent organisation and time-keeping skills
  • Managing own contribution to complex projects
  • Supporting colleagues and ensuring coordinated deliverables
  • Clearly understanding interfaces with colleagues
  • Working effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, with members dispersed over wide geographical area
  • Fluent English speaker, and good written and verbal communication skills
