Commercial Bid Manager

 

The role

 

Our Business Assurance business is a recognised, world-leading professional assurance services organisation. We specialise in management systems compliance & expert advice across a broad spectrum of standards, schemes & business improvement services to include customised training & assurance. In Inspection Services, we certify safety critical industrial equipment according to recognised codes, standards & regulations. We also partner with companies to provide tailored high-quality inspection services throughout their manufacturing supply chains, making sure equipment is built safely & to their requirements.

 

This role will be responsible for introducing and implementing a world class end to end bid process, as part of our Business Assurance Commercial team.

 

You will:

  • Manage the bid qualification (bid go/no go) process for new opportunities
  • Manage virtual bid teams and inputs from a variety of stakeholders, typically involving contributions from sales, marketing, SDS, SD, finance, commercial, legal and Onboarding & Configuration
  • Prepare and review the commercial aspects of the bid, ensuring all services are included in the final price to the customer
  • Be responsible for risk tracking and management of a bid end to end through the bid process
  • Contribute to the written proposal - both in terms of content and presentation (such as preparation of a management summary)
  • Ensure timely delivery of compliant and commercially viable bids, within the BAIS commercial framework
  • Understand and resolve complex technical, strategic and business issues that could result in delays to responses and proposals
  • Arrange all post-bid reviews with customers, post contract award
  • Ensure professional handover of successful bids to the operations team for delivery, including clarity around all SLA’s and KPI’s, upon receipt of the signed contracts
  • Formulate and implement ‘lessons learned’ to continually improve the process
  • Contribute to the global sales leadership team, including preparation of Management Information around bid success rates, opportunity pipeline and forecast
  • Manage a ‘best practice’ pack of standard responses and general content for wider bid and proposal consistency

 

 You will need:

  • Proven capability in delivering winning, six-figure product or complex services opportunities.
  • A background in solutions and services and experience of bid campaign management from opportunity identification through to project delivery.
  • A proven knowledge of global cultural differences, with an understanding of how bids vary depending on client geography, etc.
  • Experience in providing input into opportunity qualification, win strategies, commercial discussions, and solution design.
  • Experience in interacting with Director Level internal and external customers
  • Demonstrable commercial understanding, P&L and risk management skills.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing complex, multi-workstream opportunities.
  • Experience of implementing internal governance procedures.
  • Experience of using leading bid software/technologies
  • Proficiency with a range of IT applications including excel, Power BI and other Microsoft tools
