Role Profile


This is a diverse role offering a variety of activities including the, building, controlling and managing a portfolio of Medical Device CE marking Clients.   In addition to reviewing and evaluating medical device, technical documentation the role requires the successful candidate to provide technical support to the Medical Device QMS auditor, through advising / mentoring colleagues in competences.  Technical Areas include device/drug products, wound care, cardiovascular and soft tissue implants.


The role also requires strong inter-personal communication and project management skills as the Technical Specialist will work daily with manufacturers as they plan and execute their conformity assessment projects



Key Requirements:


  • The role would require the individual to have clinical oversight of all clinical data reviews being conducted. This would not be restricted to Class III & AIMD products but also for novel Class IIa & IIb medical devices.
  • The role holder would be required to liaise with subcontracted expertise and clinical directors of larger organisations, to ensure any clinical concerns are adequately conveyed.
  • The role holder would ensure consistency is being applied across the board with all clinical data reviews being undertaken.
  • Secondary care experienced clinicians should be sought whose speciality requires them to work with a wide variety of medical devices should be sought– including anaesthetics, orthopaedics, cardiac surgeons, cardiologists
  • They should be able to demonstrate that they are competent with a range of devices and their indications for use.
  • A clinician nearing the end of their career who can reduce their hours within clinical practise could be sought.
  • Ideally clinicians appointed should remain within clinical practise to ensure their knowledge remains current.
  • Clinicians who have been out of clinical practise for many years should not be considered for such a position, nor are primary care physicians.


Further criteria for the job specification could include:


  • Experience with analysing clinical data
  • Experience in clinical trials either as a PI or a team member
  • Awareness of the current legislation



Technical/Professional Qualifications/Requirements

·       An excellent verbal and written communicator who can convert complex processes into simple procedure, outcome and behaviour statements
