The Agile Senior Project Manager/Delivery Lead will typically undertake the shaping and delivery of large and complex projects and product teams within the Group-wide business change portfolio and IS function in accordance with the appropriate LR waterfall or agile delivery framework.

The Agile Senior Project Manager/Delivery Lead will be an expert in both waterfall and agile project management methodologies and the application thereof in product-oriented DevOps environments and with specific focus on data related activities

In addition to the core agile project management and Scrum Master skills, this particular role requires proven and strong global experience in the scoping, planning, management and implementation of data within a global organisation. For example, Data Strategy, Master Data Management, Data Governance, Data Models and Process Maps, Data Platforms, Data Analytics and Asset Lifecycle Data. This is from a total solution perspective - people, process, product, data, business outcomes and not only the technical IT elements, as part of a digital transformation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the successful and autonomous delivery of assigned projects/products as measured by scope, timescale, budget and quality of the delivered solution in accordance with the appropriate Lloyd's Register delivery framework.
  • To develop and maintain a strategic oversight of assigned projects/products thereby leveraging opportunities and benefits realisation.
  • Responsible for the formation, management and enablement of appropriate project/product teams and stakeholders.
  • Responsible for overseeing the deliverables of the project/product team ensuring adherence to industry and LR best-practise.
  • Accountable for the anticipation, identification, measurement, timely reporting, and management of relevant risks and issues that might cause a project/product to move into exceptance.
  • Responsible for the timely reporting of failing projects within the remit of themselves or the relevant stakeholders; such reporting must be accompanied by the appropriate options appraisal to inform strategic decision making.
  • Definition and management of the quality and scope in collaboration with the Scrum and Product Teams.
  • Responsibility for managing all financial aspects of the project/product to include funding applications, forecasting, reporting of actuals against budget, cross charging, and escalation of any potential issues or actual risks.
  • Responsible for maintaining professional expertise and expert knowledge of evolving methods and approaches relevant to the field of Agile Project Management and DevOps Product Development.
  • Accountable for managing the risks and issues, and for the provision of mitigation strategies and techniques.
  • Accountable for the provision of appropriate governance.
  • Accountable for completeness of stakeholder engagement for all assigned projects/products to assure successful adoption into the business.
  • Accountable for the identification and escalation to the relevant stakeholders of assigned failing projects or change initiatives. Accountable for the provision of appropriate options appraisals to enable informed strategic decision making to recover or close projects/products whilst minimising any loss to the Business.
  • Creation of complex project/sprint plans with appropriate contingency and tolerance to assure deliverability whilst optimising benefits delivery.
  • Engagement with all impacted stakeholders to ensure business buy-in and appropriate involvement
  • Accountability for the transition of all products and services generated by assigned projects into production
  • Applying and enforcing agile project methodology, DevOps ways of working, Software/Product Lifecycle Development standards, and business change management


Technical/Professional Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Has in excess of seven years’ experience of leading large global complex projects:
  • Has industry recognised Project Management, Agile and Scrum Master qualifications and experience in the application thereof
  • Strong experience of Scrum and how to implement the practice, measure and improve and be able to run the ceremonies and product teams effectively
  • Strong Understanding of DevOps principles, Kanban and how to manage flow through, Work in Progress Limits and Just in Time Engineering
  • Sprint planning and demand/capacity/backlog management
  • Proven track record of successful engagement with and management of stakeholders at all levels, good negotiating skills, and excellent influencing skills
  • Significant experience of proactively managing risks and issues
  • Good commercial acumen able to effectively manage the third-party suppliers and the overall project budget
  • A proven history of significant, successful and measurable benefits delivery
  • A proven history of producing quality Business Cases that have been successfully delivered
  • Significant experience in preparing complex project and sprint plans that will deliver to the required time, cost, quality, scope, business outcomes and expectations of stakeholders.
  • Proven and strong global experience of producing and managing:
  • The production and implementation of a corporate data strategy
  • Master data management implementation programmes
  • Data governance
  • Data models and process maps
  • Data platforms
  • Data analytics
  • Asset lifecycle data
  • Data analysis, cleansing, migration and management
  • Setting up data as an enabler for digitalisation
  • 3rd party vendors
  • A subject matter expert in the field of agile project management and DevOps; to include but not limited to methodologies, processes, principles, approaches and tools
  • Proven track record of strategic financial planning and project/product financial control
  • Results-oriented and customer focused, whilst ensuring all affected teams are equally engaged and aware of project/product requirements in enough time to meet them
  • A proven history of reviewing and challenging Business Cases through peer review
  • Demonstrable experience in assessing and leveraging business benefits to additional areas without negatively impacting quality, cost, or timescales. Ideally proven experience in over-delivering against business-wide strategy whilst delivering the Project Sponsors initial brief.
