About this role:

The focus for this role will be to assess the design / production / in service aspects of engineering assets, using procedures, experience, and knowledge appropriate for routine situations and support the development of the marine business in Guyana and the nearby countries. To take proactive action for the growth and participation of LR in the booming oil and marine industry in Guyana. To interact with the new Guyana shipping companies and corporations with the intention of creating commercial relationships with them.  To assist the maritime authorities in Guyana to develop a strong relationship and become their preferred consultancy organization. To attend existing commercial and naval ship surveys in the area, for both domestic and foreign flag vessels. 

Meanwhile, you will pursue continuous professional development to remain fully knowledgeable about the technical considerations that are pertinent to clients, and merge that with a deep understanding of classification society rules and relevant international standards.

 

You will always assess all risks and work in a safe manner, reporting in a timely manner all incidents including near miss and safety observations.

 

You will have:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in the marine industry, including naval vessel experience. 
  • Significant technical competence with ships in service and new construction to include statutory requirements.
  • Thorough understanding of the local marine environment.
  • Ability to participate in and add value to technical discussions with clients and LR colleagues.
  • Organizational and planning skills, ability to prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Intermediate or advanced experience using MS Office suite of products: Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Experience as a new construction surveyor would be an advantage.
  • Experience with Marine Management Systems would be an advantage.
  • Fluency in English language, reading and writing.
