We are looking for professionals who can collaborate with the technical performance team in overseeing port state detentions on the LR classed fleet. This role involves initiating investigations, identifying trends, and recommending company actions to enhance performance and compliance.

The role 

 

  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date recording of PSC inspection and detention data to provide LR and clients with performance data.
  • Conduct analysis of PSC data, particularly focusing on LR's performance compared to other IACS members.
  • Review all PSC detentions and coordinate investigations, ensuring closure of identified actions and learning points. Endorse PSCM and FSIM survey reports.
  • Provide subject matter expertise, guidance, and analysis on PSC and FSC matters to IACS, clients, and the business. Represent LR during audits and inspections by IACS, EMSA, and other third-party bodies. Liaise with flag states for investigations related to LR surveys required by a flag state.
  • Manage the PSC Pocket Checklist App and keep checklists updated in collaboration with the UK P&I Club and Columns, the app developers.
  • Support the Fleet quality monitoring process and make recommendations concerning FQMP when the criteria for automatic initiation of FQMP are not met.
  • Assist in the assessment and review of the quality of LR survey deliverables, identifying areas for assessment and analysis. Monitor performance and report on trends.
  • Commit to Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high level of expertise and awareness in the field.
  • Conduct activities following internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Undertake administrative tasks as required, adhering to current processes and procedures.
  • Work in accordance with professional codes of conduct and the LR Code of Ethics in IMS01.

 

 

What you bring 

 

  • A degree or equivalent from a recognized tertiary organization by Lloyd's Register in the relevant field of naval architecture, engineering, or physical science (minimum of a two-year program), or Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution along with relevant sea-going experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of marine propulsion systems, encompassing diesel engines, turbines, and electrical power generation.
  • Significant and proven experience and expertise in Classification and statutory surveys, survey reports, and certificates, preferably with a background as a class surveyor, flag, port state inspector, ship superintendent, or sea-going engineer/officer.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of effectively conveying complex findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent proficiency in data visualization tools such as Power BI, enabling the creation of impactful reports and visualizations.
  • Membership in an appropriate professional institution.
  • Chartered Engineer or Naval Architecture status.
  • Proficiency in the English Language at a level commensurate with the demands of the work.
