i4 Insight is seeking a Production Support Engineer to work with customers, technical support representatives, software developers, and managers to identify, troubleshoot, and solve critical production issues in our cloud services and web applications.

Our customers are global shipping companies who depend on our applications to monitor their fleets of ships and provide support for making critical decisions that affect safety, the environment, and their businesses. Our customers demand reliability and predictability, so performance issues and bugs in production systems must be identified and resolved quickly. You should be passionate about solving tough technical problems and recommending improvements to products and processes. Technical skills are important, but so are persistence, patience, and communication.


Flexible / Hybrid Work Opportunity (Greater Denver Area – USA)

This position is a flexible work arrangement which allows the flexibility to work from home part-time on a regular basis and in the Greenwood Village office part-time on a regular basis, and/or as needed.  Working in such an environment provides opportunities to work with breakthrough technology, exciting customers, and fantastic colleagues from around the world.


You will

  • Use your coding, database, web API, and front-end skills to investigate, reproduce, diagnose, and solve complex production issues anywhere in the technology stack (front end, API and other services, server, database, cloud, or network)
  • Use monitoring and logging to proactively identify and resolve production issues before they affect customers
  • Provide timely information / status updates to customer-facing teams and customers to maintain overall customer satisfaction
  • Write scripts and queries to perform custom data parsing / ingestion, updates, and extractions to support various business units
  • Assist with configuring and deploying instances of our applications for new customers
  • Assist the development team with releasing new versions of our apps and cloud services
  • Clearly document bugs in our issue tracking system
  • Mentor Technical Support staff on technical issues and best practices
  • Document common problems and their solutions on internal wikis and in the customer-facing documentation such as the knowledgebase and FAQs
  • Promote supportability and debuggability initiatives within R&D

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • Experience working on production systems, specifically running in an Azure cloud services environment (also having AWS knowledge is preferred)
  • Mid-level developer experience with:
    • SQL (SQL Server) and NoSQL (CosmosDB) databases
    • C# / .NET and/or Python
  • Experience with troubleshooting JavaScript-based web application front end using browser Developer Tools
  • Solid intuition and extensive experience with troubleshooting complex software systems
  • Comfort working with Windows and Windows Server systems, including IIS
  • Experience with setting up monitoring tools (such as Application Insights, Nagios, or Site24x7) and using logs to proactively identify production issues
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with colleagues in person and around the world
  • A general understanding of underlying technologies affecting cloud applications, such as networking, security (e.g., certificates), HTTP, DNS, etc.
  • Ability and desire to learn new programming languages and frameworks as needed (training and mentoring will be provided)
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience


Preferred but not required

  • Experience writing Powershell scripts
  • Some knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Familiarity with no-code business rules engines, such as Decisions
  • Expert at using Microsoft Excel (including VBA macros)
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI or similar BI technologies
