Role purpose :

To support the SVP Maritime Governance in developing new business opportunities and delivering advisory projects across global maritime markets. The role involves assisting with research, analysis, client engagement, and the preparation of proposals and project deliverables.

To help design practical solutions for clients facing challenges in maritime governance, including compliance, safety, security, regulatory development, and operational improvement. Working closely with technical and commercial specialists, the Consultant will contribute to project activities, coordinate tasks, and ensure high‑quality outputs.

Advisory brings together maritime expertise and industry insight to help clients strengthen governance, improve decision‑making, and support safe, sustainable, and resilient maritime operations.

Key Accountabilities 

Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to identify approaches for addressing research, analysis, and project‑related challenges, suggesting alternative solutions when appropriate.

Conduct detailed research and analysis to support maritime governance projects, including regulatory development, compliance assessments, safety and security evaluations, and operational improvement activities.

Support project planning, coordination, and day‑to‑day delivery activities under the guidance of senior team members.

Assist business development efforts by contributing to proposal preparation, background research, and the development of supporting material.

Prepare structured and clear project deliverables, presentations, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Build trust‑based working relationships with clients, partners, and internal colleagues across technical and commercial teams.

Carry out tasks in compliance with internal procedures, accreditation requirements, relevant legislation, and applicable industry standards.

Contribute to maintaining high‑quality project documentation and ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks.

Support the SVP Maritime Governance in monitoring market trends, identifying new opportunities, and developing insights for global maritime governance growth

Qualifications 

Minimum bachelor’s degree in maritime studies, engineering, public policy, international relations, or a related field that supports advisory work in maritime governance and strategic transformation.

Experience working in the maritime sector or related industries—such as ports, shipping, maritime administration, or classification—is strongly preferred and supports effective delivery of governance advisory services.

Demonstrated ability to build strong, trust‑based relationships with clients, government entities, and internal technical teams across diverse cultural and organisational environments

Highly effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory, technical, and governance concepts into clear and actionable insights for senior stakeholders.

Ability of developing high‑quality advisory proposals, including technical, commercial, and strategic components aligned to client governance challenges and LR’s service offerings.

Be flexible, adaptable, and prepared to take on new challenges and work from other LR or client office locations

Be highly self-motivated, possessing strong enthusiasm and commitment to delivering value to clients.

Proficiency in the English language with excellent writing skills. Additional languages such as-French, Spanish , Arabic are highly desirable and considered as advantage
