Role purpose:
To lead the Business Advisory team of Lloyd’s Register within the Middle East. To source large new consultancy projects and further develop the reputation of Lloyd’s Register as a trusted advisory for clients across the maritime and energy industry in the Middle East. The solutions offered by the Business Advisory function include strategic consultancy, performance optimisation, due diligence and feasibility studies, and energy transition advisory. 


Business development will be a key part of the role, requiring the individual to generate significant volumes of work leveraging both their own networks within the region and those held by the Lloyd’s Register commercial team. The successful candidate will also be expected to manage the successful delivery of complex projects, drawing on resources from different geographies to do so. 


More broadly, to excel in this role will require the candidate to work lead teams composed of a range of technical specialists on a broad range of projects, as well as taking responsibility for growing and developing the team within the Middle East. The role will also involve developing the Lloyd’s Register brand within the region both directly through meetings and indirectly through generating thought leadership and working with the head of Business Advisory to design and implement marketing campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop new business opportunities for the Lloyd’s Register Business Advisory team, both leveraging the wider Lloyd’s Register commercial network and operating independently.
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams drawing on wider Lloyd’s Register resources to develop integrated strategies and business solutions provide subject matter expert advice to key clients.
  • Lead and participate in projects focusing on operations transformation, efficiency improvement, operating model design, business-side support of system implementations etc.
  • Work across investment value chain in the maritime and energy industries, with specific focus on technical and commercial due diligence, process improvement, logistics optimisation and decarbonisation initiatives.
  • Manage technical and commercial aspects of bid development and project delivery while drawing in expertise from our global LR group.
  • Clearly and compellingly communicate the unique value proposition offered by the Business Advisory team within Lloyd’s Register, both internally and externally.
  • Improve service delivery by communicating internal / external client feedback as appropriate.
  • Develop sustainability key performance indicators, strategies and management plans for planning and design projects and implement them throughout the project duration.
  • Support business development with opportunity identification, proposal development, direct and indirect marketing and thought leadership.
  • Develop strong client relationships to position Lloyd’s Register as the preferred partner for Business Advisory services.
  • Lead engagement planning and ensuring that products/deliverables meet contract/workplan.
  • Gather data and research information from a range of sources to provide clear, well-written technical reports.
  • Competently undertake own work to an excellent standard and review the work of others, on time and to budget.
  • Being able to manage clients’ needs in a confident, professional manner.
  • To assess / recommend the time / value of the work to be undertaken for an internal / external client within an agreed fee / cost structure.
  • To pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge, and awareness.
  • To mentor / coach other employees, as appropriate, to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application.
  • To discuss / present the deliverable with the internal / external client up to senior level and be able to suggest alternative solutions where appropriate.



Technical / Professional Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university in a relevant subject, master’s degree preferred.
  • 10 years’ experience in business advisory with a recognised firm.
  • Experience of consultancy engagements in the maritime and energy space.
  • Experience of working in a ‘Seller-Doer’ environment with consultative selling skillset.
  • Experience of working with international and regional maritime regulations.
  • Experience of development of complex technical reports in line with local/regional regulatory requirements and international best practices.
  • Experience in the use of structured problem-solving approaches / frameworks.
  • Highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to build strong relationships with a range of clients.
  • Strong facilitation skills that are adaptable to different situations and communications styles. Experience with creating business development materials to support project.
  • Experience conducting analysis (desktop research, data analysis, reviewing documents, interviewing etc.) and synthesising into digestible outputs (e.g., reports, presentations).
  • Good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate issues and ideas effectively.
  • Be flexible, adaptable, and prepared to take on new challenges and work from other LR or client office locations.
  • Be highly self-motivated, possessing strong enthusiasm and commitment to delivering sustainable outcomes. Able to prioritize and work effectively under pressure.
