Digital Business Configuration Specialist

Location negotiable + home working

We need an explorer: someone with the intellectual curiosity and problem-solving prowess to harness the power of IT systems and business technology to drive commercial transformation.

You’ll be asking questions about how we – and our clients – can use technology to become more efficient, more insightful, more proactive and more profitable. In doing so, you’ll be helping businesses across the globe in sectors stretching from manufacturing, shipping and energy to finance, food, and healthcare to manage their risk and compliance more effectively. The work you do here will reach further. The only limit is your imagination.

About the role

You’ll be part of our BA&IS Innovation and Technology team, working alongside our Digital Business Partner with a brief to use both new technologies and existing tools/systems to map improved client configurations.

You’ll be a visible, vital source of digital enablement expertise, helping us to keep customers at the centre of our business by improving the way they interact with us. Your remit will include:

  • Proactively engaging with the business to help better understand client requirements and how we can harness technology to solve client problems.
  • Coaching colleagues so that they understand the possibilities (and limitations) of client-focused tools.
  • Supporting the business to create advanced functionality in our existing configurable platforms.
  • Developing and delivering complex configuration solutions in our LR platforms to fully meet the business functional requirements, on-time, and within budget
  • Ensuring that we follow best practice guidelines, design principles and patterns for all configuration work

The team is based in Edinburgh but we have a longstanding flexible work-from-home culture, so you could choose to be based at one of our key locations (e.g. Birmingham or London).

About you

We don’t need a coder, developer or project manager – although skills in those areas will come in handy. Technically, we’re looking for someone of graduate calibre who understands how modern digital technology platforms work and how systems, software, dashboards and databases can be reconfigured to work in different commercial scenarios. Maybe you’re working in an operational discipline or as a super user. If you do have a software/technology environment experience, it might include:-

  • Development and support of ‘low code’ or advanced configuration IT platforms (e.g. PowerApps, InfoExchange, Oracle APEX, Mendex, Outsystems)
  • Business analysis and requirements gathering to inform innovative solutions

Your mindset is as important as your technical skills. Your colleagues would describe you as a creative problem-solver and a logical thinker – someone who’s enthusiastic about how technology and digital enablement can transform our client relationships. Add to that organisational flair and a positive, team-focused approach and you could be the person to inspire the changes we’re looking for.
