Role: IT Configuration Specialist

We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative IT Configuration Specialist who has a passion for delivering excellent customer experiences.


Role Purpose:

We are the Client Configuration and Onboarding Team and are part of Lloyd’s Register’s Customised Assurance division. We are responsible for ensuring the technology we provide our clients is bespoke to them and empowers them to work more efficiently with greater insights and analysis.


The successful candidate will be responsible for platform configuration related to new and existing client onboarding project work, along with management and resolution of support tickets related to the LR platforms.


The role would suit a graduate with 1-2 years of experience in the technology or IT industry, working directly with clients and internal stakeholders.


Due to current world events, the role will initially be carried out remotely, however, the successful candidate will be permanently based in the Edinburgh office, with some national and international travel required in undertaking the role.


The process of Onboarding is delivered as a bespoke service managed as a stand-alone project typically lasting 3 months per client prior to handover to Operations & BAU. Our Configuration work involves dealing with both internal and external customers to ensure the systems operate both to their fullest capability and we operate within a structured framework to provide great and timely support.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Project Managers to understand client and business requirements, ensuring that technical requirements are validated as best practice and achievable within the project scope and timelines
  • Analyse configuration issues and propose appropriate solutions
  • Build audit checklists with the business and client stakeholders
  • Carry out system imports of client data
  • Draft UAT scripts and work with the business and client to test solutions end to end, including data quality checks
  • Creation of bespoke Management Information Reports for the client
  • Support ticket management and resolution of business and client configuration issues and changes
  • Prepare and update documentation for core processes and methodologies
  • Co-ordinate the integration, development and enhancement of our configuration management tools
  • Review and recommend improvements to onboarding configuration management processes


Technical and Professional Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent, in a computing, science or technology discipline
  • 1-2 years' experience working in a technology or IT environment, working directly with business users and clients
  • Experience of Microsoft O365 Apps (Excel, Word, Visio) - practical experience essential
  • Strong time and stakeholder management skills - essential
  • Knowledge of internet-based technologies and databases - desirable
  • Knowledge of MS SQL Server -  practical experience highly desirable
  • Experience of MS Power platforms (PowerApps, PowerAutomate, Power BI) - desirable
  • Understanding of how data Extract, Test and Load (ETL) works - desirable
  • Incident, issue and change management experience - desirable
  • Willingness to travel globally to client or LR sites as required
  • Knowledge of project management process and frameworks - desirable
