To effectively manage the Global Environmental Team in LR, to meet specific business/commercial objectives and develop the business area to meet future business demands to help improve Lloyd’s Register’s competitive position. Activities are within defined business plans.

The role:
- Responsible for interpreting the business plans and costing structure into goals and objectives for the business area and changes/developments required for the systems, processes and procedures.
- Responsible for developing a plan for developing the scope of work delivered by the TSO taking into account future legislative, industry and business changes including development of the team and its members. Work collaboratively with the peer group of TSO Managers & Global Discipline heads to share workload as necessary, learning and best practice.
- Assist senior managers in implementing changes and developments within a business area to meet future business/commercial demands to improve Lloyd’s Register’s competitive position.
- Responsible for ensuring that the systems, processes and procedures are effective and efficient to meet business and commercial requirements for both internal and external clients
- To lead, manage and develop the team to maintain an effective and competitive service. This includes recruitment, performance management and training / development.
- Responsible for resource planning including budget setting, prioritizing, delegating and monitoring of activities and achievements of the business area taking into account commercial and contractual requirements pertinent to delivery.
- Deal with business queries and build relationships with internal and external clients, as appropriate, to resolve service problems and help build the business.
- To mentor/coach team members, as appropriate, to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application.
- Liaise with other business areas/offices to ensure consistency in development and delivery of business/commercial services to internal and external clients.
What you bring
- A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organization recognized by Lloyd’s Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of two years programme) or Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship’s officer.
- Membership of an appropriate professional institution- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status
- Demonstrable understanding of the Technical Support Office transactional process gained through experience and training.
- Demonstrable good understanding of the certification required to be issued.
- Experience of managing and mentoring a team, ideally in a similar industry.
- Experience in a Technical Support Office environment with good customer relationships and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience and ability of working across different nationalities and cultures.
- Solid experience of building relationships, with the ability to proactively drive development of a network of key relationships internally and externally.
- Proven experience of successfully managing a team and ability to work across Group where necessary
- Good knowledge of financial and budgetary settings
- Proficiency in the English Language commensurate with the work
- Proven experience of successfully managing a team
- Ability to multi-task, planning and organizing with good time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize workload.
- Energetic, responsive team player with an interest in safety and keen to use initiative.
