What we’re looking for
We are looking for a knowledgeable Regulatory Specialist who will support the team with a wide knowledge across various regulatory topics as well as the ability to co-ordinate the implementation of statutory and classification regulatory amendments within LR. You will also need to advise our clients of upcoming requirements and what they will need to do to comply. The role requires attendance at the IMO and other industry meetings/events.

About the role
As part of a team working on different regulatory topics, the main purpose of the role is:
- Managing the implementation of statutory and classification regulatory amendments and interpretations into Lloyd’s Register (LR) rules, regulations and procedures. Areas of responsibility includes safety related regulation but is not limited to SOLAS, Load Line, related safety codes, guidelines, etc. and International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) resolutions.
- Communicating LR's technical position on matters to the IACS working groups, including the Safety Panel. This includes contributing to the development of IACS Unified Interpretations of IMO Convention requirements, history and technical background documents and position papers for the IMO in consultation with specialist colleagues worldwide.
- Managing the co-ordination of LR’s technical position for matters including safety equipment and the safety of emerging low- and zero-GHG energy sources within IMO Committees and Sub-Committees. This includes contribution to LR’s client reports and other communication materials, and occasional participation (typically 2 or 3 weeks per year) at IMO meetings in London to understand and follow the developments.
- Preparing and delivering material to clients, explaining the impact of new requirements and where LR can support their compliance, allowing them to prepare for new or changing requirements.
What you bring
- A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organization recognized by Lloyd’s Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of two years programme) or qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship’s officer
- Membership of an appropriate professional institution.
- Working knowledge of marine classification and statutory certification commensurate with practical experience of surveys, plan approval or involvement with flag administrations
- Working knowledge of regulatory bodies including IMO, flag administrations, IACS and EU including how they operate and interact
- Demonstrable evidence of communicating effectively at different levels within organizations and working effectively and openly at all levels, both internally and externally
- A practical approach to problem solving with the ability to complete tasks
- A proficient command of the English language (written and verbal)
- This role requires work authorization for the respective countries approved for hiring (i.e.,Mumbai-India, Philippines, Mozambique and Malaysia)
