What we're looking for
We are seeking individuals who can fulfil the role of appraising Ship structures (particularly on Ships in Service related and Marine Equipment & components (MEC)) design aspects according to LR Rules and international standards. The ideal candidates should possess the necessary procedures, experience, and knowledge to conduct design appraisals for new building, conversion, and existing vessels. Furthermore, we value individuals who can offer technical support to ship designers and operators, as well as other stakeholders involved in ships and marine platforms.

The Role :
- To carry out design appraisal of hull structural plans of modifications, retrofits, conversions and Marine Equipment & component (MEC) structures in accordance with LR’s Rules and applicable International/National technical standards for Ships in Services and MEC structures.
- Provide technical advice / guidance to LR field surveyors and clients on matters relating to Lloyd’s Register Rules, National or international standards and Flag requirements in areas of technical expertise.
- To build and maintain a good relationship with our clients and internal stakeholders.
- Conduct technical discussion and provide technical advice to internal and external clients.
- To discuss and present the deliverable with the internal / external client and be able to suggest solutions where appropriate.
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
What you bring
- Bachelor or master’s degree in Naval Architecture, Ship Design/Shipbuilding or equivalent and/or Chartered/Professional qualification and a member of a relevant professional institution;
- Relevant experience in Ship structures basic design/ plan appraisal together with some practical experience.
- Thorough knowledge on design principles/structural idealization /loadings of ship structures and governing Class rule requirements.
- Experience in structural analysis (FEA) of ship structures and working knowledge on any prominently used FE software.
- Have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, to prioritise work and meet LR and Clients’ deadlines, and to work effectively under pressure.
- Good skill to conduct technical conversation with clients and maintain good relationships with client with client focus mind-set;.
- Proficiency in the English Language commensurate with the work and to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills.
