We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Intermediate Engineer in Field Services to join our experienced Field Services Team in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

 

Your duties will include:

  • Provide consultancy services at an intermediate engineer level in areas relating to the development, maintenance, troubleshooting and verification of software/hardware systems used in the field for the collection, processing, and analysis of data
  • Provide on-site system support as required to our clients that primarily operate on the East and West coasts of Canada, including clear and concise communication with clients and internal/external stakeholders
  • Participate in proposal development and provide estimates for own time
  • Deliver agreed upon project scope of work on time and on budget
  • Take personal responsibility for delivering own goals and targets, without requiring significant supervision
  • Pursue Continuous Professional Development while maintaining a high degree of discipline, knowledge, and awareness. Take ownership for own development, seeking opportunities for self-development.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards

 

Key skill requirements:

  • Intermediate-level engineering knowledge, with a focus on hardware/software systems and data analysis related to a relevant area such as acoustics, vibration, autonomous vehicle technology, and ship performance: 3-5 years’ experience. Preference will be given towards experience in a marine environment, however experience with similar complex electronic/mechanical systems in other domains (e.g. aerospace and robotics) may be considered.
  • Experience in conducting field work, especially in a marine environment, and the ability to troubleshoot and quickly resolve issues on the spot.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency in developing code using applicable software development environments (e.g. typically one or more of LabVIEW, Python, C++, C#, MATLAB).
  • Familiarity with the Lloyd’s Register Classification Rules, IMO regulations, Transport Canada regulations, ISO and other relevant standards used in the marine and offshore industries regarding noise, vibration, and ship performance.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

 

You will have:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a tertiary organization recognized by Lloyd’s Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science with demonstrated experience in the marine field.
  • A member of a professional engineering organization working towards achieving Professional, Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language. Proficiency in another language such as French or Spanish will be considered an asset.
  • Eligibility for a Personal Security Clearance with the Canadian Industrial Security Directorate (CISD) is a mandatory requirement.
  • Must be able to successfully complete all required Lloyd’s Register training courses, including those required for conducting field work on ships (Marine Medical Certificate from Transport Canada).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must have the ability to travel nationally and internationally.
