Location:   Hybrid position with primary Location Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada OR other locations in Canada or the United Kingdom if you possess current or prior NATO security clearance

Lead engineer with a focus on naval structures to join our Structures and Risk team in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.  Take your skills to the next level working with a team of professionals on the leading edge of naval structural analysis, keeping vessels operating safely and efficiently using the latest tools and knowledge available.  You will have the opportunity to work with colleagues and clients in Canada and around the world. The role 

  • Provide consultancy services at a lead engineer level in areas relating to the structural analysis of naval vessels
  • Act in lead engineer capacity, both delivering and leading projects in structural analysis of naval vessels, including development of new services/approaches and training of more junior engineers
  • Lead small- and large-scale proposal development. Develop relationships with key naval stakeholders to understand current and future client challenges
  • Manage projects in the areas of structural analysis and response, delivering agreed upon project scope of work on time and on budget
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards

 

What you bring 

  • Senior-level structural engineering expertise with a focus on ship structures: 15+ years’ experience including use of finite element codes and other numerical modelling tools for the analysis of structures
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering
  • Experience in the maritime industry
  • Experience with working for/with the Canadian Department of National Defense or International Naval experience making you eligible for a Personal Security Clearance with the Canadian Industrial Security Directorate (CISD) or immediate eligibility for security clearance in a NATO country
  • Demonstrated experience in leading projects related to structural engineering and survivability analyses
  • Programming experience considered a strong asset
