Role Purpose

The Accounting Controller - Hanseaticsoft is part of the Financial Organisation for the Maritime Performance Services Finance team. This is a broad role responsible for the preparation of the statutory and management accounting, transactional processing, and payroll accounting. The role has both P&L and Balance Sheet responsibility and needs to ensure controls are maintained and data reported is accurate and explainable. This role operates as part of the Business Controller function and as such requires commitment to use common templates, follow controls and share best practice.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Processing of supplier invoices and following up with suppliers to obtain missing invoices where goods have been received
  • Process emails from suppliers and internal colleagues which will include invoices and queries
  • Ensuring all exceptions and queries raised are dealt with promptly and professionally and that there are no aged exceptions or queries remaining
  • Processing of sales invoices including the export from the invoice tool for importing to DATEV
  • Processing of credit card statements and associated accounting entries
  • Preparation of VAT returns including query resolution with the tax office
  • Running the Dunning process from DATEV export data
  • Payroll accounting including posting of payroll liabilities and ensuring that master data is kept up to date and local compliance reporting produced
  • Posting of accounting entries in local system and preparing related reports and analysis as required including the statement of adjustments for year-end reporting
  • Ensure compliance to local statutory regulations and that all required reporting is completed in an accurate and timely manner
  • Ensure that monthly, quarterly, and annual performance is accurately reported and ready for review by Business Finance in accordance with published timetables.
  • Ensure that the Balance Sheet is reviewed and understood and that any risks and opportunities in the Balance Sheet are clearly communicated to Business Finance in liaison with the GL team.
  • Ad-hoc support on other projects and areas as required

 

You will need:

 

  • Professional accountancy qualification 
  • Must have expirience in German GAAP (HGB)
  • Must have extended knowledge with DATEV
  • Experience of an international finance function in a medium to large matrix structure
  • Ability to create value within a business taking into account wider business environment
  • Ability to drive change, and develop and manage resourcing activities
  • Ability to build strong relationships and take a hands-on approach
