Typical strongholds for Inspections are the pressure vessel manufacturing industry, power generation and upstream and downstream oil & gas. Lloyd's Register Inspection Services has strong growth plans for UK and North Europe where this role will focus on. You will work on a range of contract values with previous experience across all types of sales offers. You will be passionate and driven towards developing current and new opportunities and enjoy the thrill of working through obstacles to help capture success!

 

In this role it will be your job to assess the design, manufacture and in-service aspects of engineering assets, against agreed Codes, standards, specifications, procedures, using experience and knowledge appropriate for routine situations.

 

What are you going to do?

  • To perform assessments and provide advice for service delivery within agreed parameters that include budget constraints and contractual requirements.
  • To produce the deliverable within the agreed parameters in a defined format.
  • To discuss/present the deliverable with the external client and be able to assess alternative solutions where appropriate.
  • Undertake routine administration as required in line with current processes and procedures.
  • To assess/ recommend the time/value of the work to be undertaken for an external client within an agreed fee/cost structure and issue quotations up to an agreed limit and Lloyd’s Register’s standard terms and conditions (e.g. Commercial Notice).
  • To pursue Continuing Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards.
  • To give technical guidance to other employees, as appropriate, and disseminate information to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application.
  • To assist in service delivery improvement by communicating to internal/external client feedback as appropriate.

 

Key Health & Safety Responsibilities:

  • Assess the risks and work in a safe manner at all times, robustly implementing health and safety rules, instructions and systems and refuse to undertake work that compromises your safety or health.
  • Report in a timely manner all incidents including near miss and safety observations (NMSO), accidents and injuries and raise any health and safety concerns with your line manager.

 

Technical / Professional Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Shall possess a relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognised university. An additional higher tertiary degree e.g. Masters may be preferred.
  • Preferably a qualified member of a recognised professional body eg www.nspe.org, www.cae.cn, www.engc.org.uk, www.ecindia.org.
  • Shall possess sufficient relevant working experience to demonstrate good awareness of the relevant specialist requirements, knowledge and application.
  • Likely to have 4-6 years relevant working experience.

 

Job Specific Technical/Professional Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Must have experience in design / appraisal of pressure equipment, piping and associated aspects
  • Must have the knowledge of FE Analysis and have experience of using FE Analysis software packages e.g. Ansys, etc.
  • Essential to have knowledge of and to have worked with various regulations, codes, standards incl ASME VIII Div-1&2; ADMerkblatt; EN13445; EN13480; EN12952 & 12953; PED; IBR
  • Knowledge of evaluating life assessment of assets will be an advantage
  • Professional Engineer / International Professional Engineer qualifications will be an advantage
  • Effective interpersonal skills including communication and reporting in English at all levels
  • Proficiency in MS Office is essential
