Role Purpose:

We are now recruiting for a Heath, Safety and Environment manager for North America who will work collaboratively with the Group HSES management and other HSES managers to contribute HSES specialist knowledge into creating innovative local programs to drive good HSES practices, culture, and mindset.  Additionally, you will be responsible for implementing the Group Management System and strategy and ensure its effective implementation for the geography of responsibility.

 

Key Responsibilities: Communication, Training and Performance Reporting

  • Ensure HSES issues are communicated with the Area and local management and are acted on effectively
  • Establish links and liaise with client sites on HSES matters, as appropriate
  • Provide advice/mentoring for the Leadership Teams and all other appropriate employees on HSES matters
  • Acting as HSES point of contact for one of the LR business streams, as requested by the Area Lead
  • Liaising and supporting the business with key client interaction/support to improve HSES culture wider than LR
  • Plan, deliver and monitor HSES training within the area
  • Manage compliance with HSES instructions, systems, and legal requirements, ensuring employees are suitably trained and adequate resources are available to work safely
  • Monitor, measure, and review Area HSES performance (including trend analysis) and prepare management reports
  • Monitor and review HSES performance, observe safety behaviors in the workplace, taking appropriate corrective and preventive action as necessary and suggesting and implementing improvement activities
  • Provide HSES support for assurance audit process, including monitoring to ensure that corrective action is taken with respect to HSES audit and inspection processes

 

Key Responsibilities: Incident Reporting, Technology Innovation, Culture and Regulatory Support

  • Lead incident investigations for incidents including root cause analysis
  • Report in a timely manner all incidents including near miss and safety observations (NMSO), accidents and injuries and raise any health and safety concerns with your line manager
  • Work in collaboration with HSES team to advance the digitization of HSES systems and processes, including the development of new tools and applications
  • Introducing new approaches when creating and leading the implementation of local HSES initiatives and best practices within, including Group policies, recognizing the different legislative regimes and cultural factors in each country, through the identification, selection and piloting suitable technologies
  • Work with the Lead Area HSE Manager and operational teams to identify, control and mitigate HSES risks
  • Monitor and ensure that corrective action is taken with respect to HSES audit and inspection processes
  • Lead by example and champion effective HSES performance improvement
  • Eliminate or minimize employees’ exposure to risks by regularly reviewing the HSES risk register, defining appropriate controls, communicating results of risk assessment, and ensuring HSES is considered in the planning and execution of all LR activities
  • Always assess the risks and work in a safe manner, robustly implementing health and safety rules, instructions and systems and refuse to undertake work that compromises your safety or health
  • Provide HSES support for the audit process
  • Ensure LR safety management procedures are implemented and applied with the area
  • Provide data and support to the business lines producing bid response documentation/presentations
  • Stay up to date of all external regulatory and client HSES initiatives/requirements, ensure compliance, and identify those that have a direct impact on the LR GMS and provide recommendations for improvements
