Maritime Commercial Manager – US

Lloyd’s Register
Location: Houston, Texas, USA

What we’re looking for

We’re seeking a seasoned Maritime Commercial Manager with strong experience in the shipping and maritime industry to manage an assigned territory within the United States. You will serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of existing accounts and targeted new business opportunities.

Your focus will be on delivering an exceptional customer experience — enhancing loyalty, building long-term relationships, and achieving the commercial and revenue objectives of our Lloyd’s Register Maritime business.

What we offer you

  • The opportunity to work for an organisation with a strong sense of purpose, driven by values and a commitment to a safer world.

  • A full-time, permanent role within a global team that encourages professional and personal development.

  • The ability to make a meaningful impact in shaping maritime safety, sustainability, and performance.

The role

Territory & Account Management:
Develop and maintain comprehensive territory and account plans that optimise margin performance and drive growth across Lloyd’s Register’s products and service solutions.

Customer Engagement:
Act as a trusted advisor to your clients, conducting regular account meetings to identify their evolving needs and deliver tailored solutions. Identify opportunities for cross-selling and upselling to maximise value for both the customer and LR.

Strategic Relationship Building:
Organise and facilitate executive-level meetings to strengthen strategic relationships between Lloyd’s Register’s senior management and client leadership teams.

Commercial Leadership:
Lead bid processes, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities across the opportunity capture team. Oversee the development of proposals and quotations to expand revenue, market share, and client engagement.

Performance Delivery:
Deliver financial and operational results in line with commercial plans and budget targets. Track and report expected sales performance using pipeline data, market insights, and competitor analysis within Salesforce.

Market Insight:
Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends, technological developments, and competitor activities to identify emerging opportunities and maintain a competitive edge.

Client Relationship Excellence:
Share key account insights with internal stakeholders, proactively address and resolve client issues, and ensure lessons learned are disseminated in line with LR’s Business Management System (BMS) and service level agreements.

Revenue and Contract Oversight:
Monitor account performance, margins, and contract renewals to ensure sustained client satisfaction and business continuity.

What you bring

  • A degree in Business, Engineering, or Maritime Studies (or equivalent professional experience).

  • 10+ years of commercial or account management experience within the maritime or shipping industry.

  • Proven success in managing complex customer relationships and delivering commercial growth.

  • Deep understanding of the shipping market, marine operations, and related regulatory environments.

  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to develop strategic action plans and negotiate effectively.

  • Experience in budgeting, financial planning, forecasting, and reporting.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build networks and collaborate across functions and geographies.

  • A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a passion for delivering customer value and driving results.

You are someone who:

  • Takes accountability and ownership for achieving customer and business goals.

  • Is adaptable, proactive, and confident in managing multiple priorities.

  • Builds lasting partnerships and communicates effectively across all levels.

  • Demonstrates problem-solving ability and commercial insight.

  • Thrives in a collaborative, multicultural environment.
