Location: Shanghai, China (hybrid / flexible; some travel as required)
Function: Group Programmes and Portfolio
Reports to: Change Management Lead
Role Overview
At Lloyd’s Register, we exist to create a safer world. We’re looking for a Business Change Manager based in Shanghai to help turn strategy into real, measurable adoption—supporting programmes that strengthen safety, sustainability, and digital capability across our global organisation, with a strong focus on delivery in China.
You will work closely with Portfolio Managers, Project Managers, Business Analysts and business leaders to shape change plans, engage stakeholders, and enable teams to move confidently to new processes, tools, and ways of working.
You’ll also be part of LR’s change management community—sharing proven approaches and continuously improving how we deliver change. We’re looking for someone with strong fundamentals (Prosci or equivalent) and 5+ years of experience leading change in complex organisations, ideally within multinational environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Project Managers and business leaders to plan and deliver change that supports outcomes and benefits.
- Own the people side of change for key initiatives, ensuring the approach works for China-based teams and aligns to global goals.
- Build and run change plans (communications, stakeholder engagement, readiness, training, and reinforcement).
- Engage stakeholders across China and globally; facilitate workshops to clarify needs, manage resistance, and remove adoption barriers.
- Translate project changes into clear business impacts (roles, processes, capability, and tools) and define practical transition actions.
- Design training and performance support; coach leaders and change champions to drive adoption.
- Measure readiness and adoption using data and feedback; provide crisp updates and recommendations to programme leadership.
- Ensure communications and change activities align with LR policies and relevant local requirements.
- Evaluate what works (and what doesn’t), capture lessons learned, and continuously improve change delivery.
- Contribute to the change management community by sharing templates, case studies, and practical tools.
What we are looking for
- Change management foundation: Strong knowledge of Prosci (or equivalent) and the judgement to apply it pragmatically.
- Influence and stakeholder management: Confident partnering with senior leaders, managers, and front-line teams—across China and internationally.
- Proven delivery: Experience taking change from impact assessment through to adoption and reinforcement (comms, training, readiness, resistance management).
- Bilingual communication: Able to communicate clearly with different audiences. Fluent Mandarin and professional English are strongly preferred.
- Comfort with pace and ambiguity: You stay structured and calm in a fast-moving, matrix environment with changing priorities.
- People-first mindset: You listen well, build trust quickly, and can challenge constructively to move change forward.
- Leader enablement: You can coach managers and sponsors to lead change—especially where structured change is new.
- Data-informed approach: You use insights and feedback to manage adoption risk and show progress.
- China experience: You’ve delivered change in China (or for China-based teams) and work effectively across cultures and time zones.
- Learning enablement: You can translate impacts into training, toolkits, and on-the-job support that improves adoption.
Why Join Lloyd’s Register?
- Purpose-led work, real-world impact: Help deliver change that supports safety, sustainability, and innovation—making a difference for teams in China and globally.
- Growth & exposure: Build your career through learning, coaching, and high-visibility programmes with global stakeholders.
- Transformation at scale: Be part of a modern transformation journey—improving processes, data, and digital ways of working.
- International, collaborative team: Work in an inclusive culture with strong cross-region collaboration between Shanghai, China and global colleagues.
