This role involves building client relationships and supporting product and service development to help LR broaden its footprint in the container market. The role has a global remit to mirror and support the LR Global Containership Segment Director.

The role

  • Support and deputise as the figurehead of container market and technology for LR Marine and Offshore globally, echoing the strategic direction towards the sustainable growth of LR's container segment.
  • Remain up to speed with developments in the container market (charter, freight, newbuild etc.). Pursue innovative projects and initiatives, developing robust investment cases for services and/or innovation projects that will solve specific customer needs within the container segment.
  • Remain up to speed with technology developments in the segment, and monitor, support and shape the enhancement of the LR portfolio of services.
  • Pursue the development of relationships with key external stakeholders within the wider container-based ocean supply chain, including yards, designers, OEMs, cargo owners, vessel owners and operators.
  • Working with the business teams, research and prepare briefing notes for external engagements. These can range from a one-to-one meeting to attendance at events with multiple clients and also large conferences. Be responsible for the compilation of technical and business market presentations in the container segment.
  • Support the internal and external communications and marketing teams with engagements, messaging and material. Represent Lloyd's Register within the segment at conferences, associations, forums and other key events internationally.
  • Ensure documentation, data, information and tasks are planned, evaluated and processed in accordance with local business requirements and agreed deadlines.
  • Review and analyse data to provide management information/statistics, including the identification and reporting of process failures, to support the overall delivery of processes.
  • Discuss/present basic reports in a specific technical area with a technical audience/client and be able to suggest alternative solutions to satisfy technical standards.
  • Provide technical specialist support/advice for a specific technical area to internal/external customers.
  • Offer guidance to other employees as appropriate so they can effectively share and apply knowledge.
  • Ensure that activities within their area of control are carried out in line with internal procedures and contractual requirements.

 

What you bring

  • Have a degree or diploma from a tertiary organisation recognised by LR or equivalent qualifications.
  • Thorough understanding of the container shipping market and marine environment, covering commercial, operational and technical capacity.
  • The skill to manage challenging and multifaceted circumstances with insight and resolve.
  • Demonstrates a methodical approach to solving problems by breaking complex matters into structured elements, assessing trade-offs and deciding based on facts.
  • Ability to interpret market trends, competitive dynamics and emerging risks to shape strategic direction, and identifies priority clients and growth opportunities across short- and long-term horizons.
  • Experience of building trusted and effective relationships by developing a deep understanding of stakeholders' needs, objectives and context.
  • Demonstrates skilled external leadership by shaping industry direction through thought leadership, stakeholder engagement and building support.
  • Experience sharing insights through publications, presentations and industry forums, while bringing stakeholders together to shape policy, standards and emerging market priorities.
  • Good commercial awareness. Demonstrated ability to translate strategic insight into actionable plans that enable sustainable commercial performance and competitive advantage.
  • Works well with colleagues across the organisation, collaborating with cross-functional teams and internal departments to help meet common objectives.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills, engaging professionally and effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
