Job Overview:
This position is remote based in the South Wales area (Cardiff-Swansea) and covers ports and equipment manufacturers from approximately Pembroke to the Bristol Channel. Occasional work outside of this area is also expected. The role is primarily dealing with the survey of existing ships and ISM/ISPS/MLC audits, and will be appointed at Senior Surveyor or Surveyor level depending on experience and skills.
The managing office for the South Wales area is located in Southampton and occasional visits would be required.
Job Responsibilities:
- The Job responsibilities are primarily related to Service Delivery for Marine Classification and Statutory periodical surveys/audits and the survey of materials and equipment. Excellent client focus is also expected.
Job Requirements:
- A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organization recognized by Lloyd's Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of two years programme) or qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a Chief Engineer Officer.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of classification and statutory surveys including a previous
- position of responsibility such as classification, flag surveyor or equivalent is desirable.
- In-depth knowledge and experience of the application of classification rules and regulations, and essential statutory requirements for Marine Periodical survey work.
- In-depth knowledge and experience of marine repairs, materials and equipment surveys. Applications from suitably qualified Electrical Engineers would also be welcome.
- ISM/ISPS/ILO qualified or a sound working knowledge of marine management systems.
- Chartered Engineer status is not essential but it is expected that the successful candidate will at least be working towards Chartered status.
- Client focussed, PC literate and commercially aware.,
- To be aware of corporate Health and Safety policies and procedures,
- A fully clean UK driving license is essential.
- Applicants must be proficient in the English language and have UK residency and a work permit for the UK.
