This role is remote and is open to applicants in the UK.



What you will be doing in your role:


As a Team Leader you will work within our Research & Innovation Department developing bespoke security-related software for internal use and client facing applications.


You’ll primarily be: 

  • Leading and overseeing a future client facing portal that will ultimately be used to deliver all of our current and future service lines 
  • Designing and architecting cloud infrastructure, services and software to enable secure solution delivery 
  • Overseeing and leading both internal and outsourced development where appropriate 
  • Recruiting, training and building a team suitable for the needs and growth of the business


We currently have a small team of developers in the R&I department, however Nettitude is a rapidly growing company, and significant expansion of the development team is anticipated over the coming months and years. To enable the client portal to be kick started the use of outsourced developers and agencies are being considered and management and oversight of these relationships and deliverables will be essential.

In addition to growth, Nettitude is looking to enhance the maturity of its development processes, reflecting a change of emphasis from early-stage research to development of production-ready software.


Typical software projects in the R&I department range from straightforward web portals and dashboards, through to innovative and challenging security-related software for purposes such as:


  • Network intrusion detection 
  • Penetration testing (both conventional and AI/ML assisted)
  •  Malware analysis


To achieve these goals, you will be supported by our research staff, and by other security professionals within Nettitude. Nevertheless, it is common for the development team to be presented with tasks for which the solution is non-obvious, or which requires the use of unfamiliar tools or techniques. You will therefore need an aptitude for learning and problem solving to successfully deliver this role.



Essential skills:


As a leader you will own and have responsibility for the design, shape and delivery of software and cloud-based solutions.


Essential skills and experience include: 

  • Strong leadership, vision and project governance, with examples of delivering successful, complex projects including client facing portals
  • Demonstratable experience in understanding client journeys that deliver cutting edge client experiences
  • Proven experience and projects within DevOps processes from an engineering, development and support perspective


We would specifically be looking for:

  • Experience capturing requirements and developing client portals
  • Coordination of development using agile methodologies such as Scrum
  • Building and overseeing solid DevOps architecture design, development and support
  • Training, mentoring, recruiting, motivating and building a future team to support the company’s growth
  • Performing code reviews and other quality assurance activities
  • Ensuring software is developed to a high standard of security



Key technologies:


The R&I department utilises a wide variety of languages and technologies, however for routine projects we most commonly use: 

  • JavaScript, often in conjunction with ReactJS and/or NodeJS
  • Python
  • MongoDB and/or ElasticSearch

Demonstrable experience with at least some of these would be desirable.


For our more technically-oriented projects, relevant fields include:

  • IT security concepts and practices
  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning
  • Low-level IP networking


We are not expecting candidates to bring any prior experience in these areas, however an aptitude for learning will be important, and a level of general knowledge across the IT field would be helpful.
