Maritime Professional Services are designed to help maritime clients around the world to achieve their business goals improving asset performance, optimising safety and enhancing sustainability. In addition to providing professional technical / engineering advisory services, LR’s clients are increasingly requesting that LR leverage its deep knowledge of the industry to support them in providing business advisory or management consulting services.  These ‘management consulting’ activities include supporting clients in performance improvement, investment advisory and project assurance.

LR Business Advisory is the global management consultancy of one of the world’s oldest maritime professional services companies specializing in engineering and technology, Lloyd’s Register. LR Business Advisory & Consulting navigates companies through their unique Investment journey – from strategy to operations.

To focus on client relationships with regards to maritime decarbonisation, the energy transition and digital transformation. Work to develop client relationships and lead engagements on this topic, as well as take responsibility for promoting the Business Advisory team within London and foster relationships with key stakeholders such as vessel charterers, the finance and legal community whilst working collaboratively with maritime sales and operations teams.

 

This role will work closely with the Business Consultancy Director to plan engagement campaigns with key clients and targets, devise innovative solutions to challenges that they face, and undertake wider marketing activities – including business travel – within the European region. This role encompasses both macro level analysis as part of strategy development work and more micro level analysis in relation to specific operational engagements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. To work with the maritime and sales team in London to promote LR’s Business Advisory capability and develop potential large-scale consultancy projects.
  2. To support developing, managing and delivering large consultancy projects. This includes planning and facilitating workshops, translating conclusions into recommendations, or helping design and implementing large-scale organisational change programmes in decarbonisation transition pathways and data digital transformation.
  3. To manage projects within a discipline and ensure they are in accordance with quality system requirements.
  4. To provide on the ground support to large consulting engagements, including working directly with clients.
  5. To deliver work scopes for clients, support proposal development and drafting and help drive internal best practice initiatives.
  6. To work with the consulting team to ensure findings are communicated in a manner that is accessible to the end user and which is visually in keeping with a quality consulting deliverable.
  7. To work with both internal / external stakeholders to identify potential routes for arriving at answers to specific research and analysis challenges and to suggest alternative solutions where appropriate.
  8. To produce the required inputs within the agreed parameters in a defined format including contract terms and conditions.
  9. Assist management team/ leadership in developing the business within a business area to meet future business/commercial demands to improve LR’s competitive position.
  10. To assist improvement in service delivery by communicating clients feedback as appropriate.
  11. To conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
  12. To contribute to client management as appropriate by acting as point of contact to effectively manage client and LR relationships.
  13. Undertake administration as required in line with current processes and procedures.
  14. To mentor/coach team members, as appropriate, to build capacity, capability and support networks to effectively leverage knowledge transfer and application.
  15. To manage and develop the team to maintain an effective and competitive service.  This includes recruitment, performance management, talent/succession planning, training and development to build and sustain a high performance culture
  16. Responsible for driving employee engagement within team to ensure that team members understand and are engaged in the delivery of both the business and strategic objectives.
  17. To give technical guidance to other employees as appropriate and disseminate information to achieve knowledge transfer and application.

 

You will have:

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university or equivalent. Master’s in Business Management or equivalent
  • Experience working in well-known Consulting firms are preferred
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data and translate these insights into clear reports 
  • Demonstratable good awareness of the relevant specialist requirements, knowledge and application. In depth relevant working experience and consulting experience are preferred
  • Strong knowledge and experience in business analyst
  • Highly effective written/verbal communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships across all levels
  • Experience of working across global teams and cultures
