We have an exciting opportunity for a Grants Officer to support the operation of our grants processes. The Grants Officer opportunity is a fixed term contract for 6 months, working with the Grants Services Manager and with the grants administrator.

 

The Foundation is a unique charity: we are not funded by the public; our income is generated from the profits from our trading arm, Lloyd's Register Group Ltd, and investments. We also discharge our charitable purpose through the safety related activities of our trading arm. Within the Foundation sits our Heritage and Education Centre, publishing and interpreting our collection spanning our 260-year history. We are a growing and diverse team of [NUMBER], also drawing on the expertise and functions of Lloyd’s Register Group.

The role will work alongside all Foundation staff - the CEO, directors and programmes team who lead on developing and managing our grants portfolio, admin and support staff, the Heritage and Education Centre team, as well as individuals from Lloyd’s Register Group.

 

You’ll bring your excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, methodical and conscientious approach to work, enhanced literacy and numeracy, and excellent communication skills.

The successful candidate will have prior experience in grants administration and database management, a degree or business qualification.

 

You will be well organised, able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines whilst having meticulous attention to detail and the flexibility to handle competing demands or changing priorities. You will also be approachable, able to work with people at all levels, and able to build positive relationships with all our stakeholders.

 

Duties will include

  • managing overall grants processes, payments and expenditure, contracting arrangements and records;
  • overseeing arrangements for our monthly governance meetings, and our quarterly committee, including acting as secretary in the absence of the Grants Service Manager which includes taking minutes;
  • optimising the grant administration process, designing new grant application forms and processes at the request of, and in consultation with, directors and programme managers;
  • managing the grants database;
  • preparing financial and internal performance reports using the grants database;
  • liaising regularly with Finance about payments and financial reporting;
  • from time to time liaising with Legal about contracts, and negotiating terms with grant holders;
  • under the guidance of the Director of Operations, ensuring compliance with grant regulations, that staff are aware of policies, and that our contracting and reporting arrangements are rigorous;
  • co-operating with internal and external audits, providing appropriate and timely information.
