What we’re looking for

We are now seeking an Innovation Manager to join our growing start-up team and support the STA day to day business activities.

This is a unique opportunity to get involved with an exciting technology and innovation venture and be a part of, as well as learn from a talented and growing team, all whilst making a real difference by working for a non-profit with a purpose.

This is a role for a confident, enthusiastic and capable innovation professional who brings a mix of project leadership, creative thinking and people skills. You’ll be a key part of helping shape and deliver innovation projects with global clients, startups, and partners.

Examples of project you may work on include:

One of our largest Innovation Initiatives called Methane Abatement in Maritime (MAMII). This multi-client project aims at mitigating methane emissions, coming from LNG-fueled ships, hence contributing to the decarbonisation of maritime shipping. We are addressing this key industry challenge in a collaborative way through technology acceleration, thought leadership and technology trials.

The Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) X Lab helps businesses pilot and validate emerging safety technologies in real-world environments, ensuring they align with industry needs before investment. Working with clients such as Heathrow, this programme has just launched and is at an exciting stage of being scaled up and delivering the 1st challenge with Heathrow.

What we offer you

The opportunity to work for an organization that has a strong sense of purpose, is values driven and helps colleagues to develop professionally and personally through our range of people development programs.

As we are looking for your professionals, with their first experience in the field, we offer training and solid job knowledge transfer.

The role

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading and delivering innovation projects – Shape, plan, and manage accelerator and innovation programmes from end to end, working with our multidisciplinary team to deliver impactful outcomes
  • Client engagement – Participate in meetings, help shape project direction, and translate client needs into practical, actionable workstreams
  • Facilitation and co-creation – Design and run collaborative sessions such as ideation workshops, innovation sprints, and stakeholder events
  • Pilot and trial delivery – Lead or support the design and delivery of technology pilots and trials, chairing regular check-ins with clients and startups, and ensuring insights are captured and shared
  • Content and insight – Develop clear, compelling written outputs including reports, presentations, and briefings that communicate the value and outcomes of our work
  • Team collaboration and delivery – Help create a strong and positive team culture. Coordinate across work packages, manage timelines and budgets, and ensure high-quality delivery
  • Stakeholder and project management – Engage with clients, startups, and partners; support steering groups, internal reviews, and contingency planning as needed
  • Knowledge management – Ensure documentation and insights are properly recorded and stored (e.g., in SharePoint) to support learning and future delivery

You are someone who has:

  • A minimum of 5–6 years’ experience in innovation, consultancy, or programme delivery, ideally in tech-focused or startup environments
  • A solid understanding of technology, innovation, or digital transformation – you don’t need to be technical, but you’re confident in tech-led conversations and emerging trends
  • Strong project and programme management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple workstreams calmly and effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – able to simplify complex ideas and engage a range of audiences
  • Strong facilitation and problem-solving skills, with experience leading workshops, design sprints, or collaborative sessions
  • A collaborative, team-oriented mindset – you’re energised by helping others succeed and working towards shared goals
  • A self-starter attitude – organised, efficient, and comfortable working in fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environments
  • Strong analytical thinking and prioritisation skills
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)

Bonus points for:

  • Experience working in innovation programmes, accelerators, venture studios, or directly with startups
  • Knowledge of safety-critical sectors such as maritime, energy, transport, or manufacturing – particularly in the context of innovation or decarbonisation
  • Familiarity with innovation project management tools, methodologies, or setting up delivery processes
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to attend events or meet with partners and stakeholders
