Your mission will be focusing on achieving value for money (VFM), reduction of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), margin improvement initiatives, and (SRM) supplier relationship management in the immediate term.

The role 

The Senior IT Procurement Category Manager will own the overall supplier relationships with technology partners and maintain a close alignment with the internal IT colleagues. They have day-to-day with the suppliers and will conduct monthly and quarterly business reviews. 

 

Here’s what your day-to-day will look like in this role:

  • Designing, managing, and executing new IT procurement category plans and project plans for individual initiatives, evaluating processes, and identifying risks and issues to ensure contracts are delivered on time and within budget, with improved benefits and savings.
  • Conducting profound research into the IT spend category and identifying how savings and sustainable margin

    improvement can be created.

  • Establishing and managing suppliers’ commercial bid process, negotiating terms and conditions, assessing risks, and

    implementing suitable strategies to mitigate exposure.

  • In conjunction with IT and business functional leaders, leading sourcing projects, both strategic and tactical,

    including but not limited to requests for information (RFIs), requests for quotations (RFQs), requests for proposals

    (RFPs), and other commercial information required

  • Developing solid relationships with internal stakeholders and key decision-makers to influence behaviours and

    ensure the appropriate and timely involvement of Procurement in all sourcing activities, e.g., Influencing,

    challenging, and jointly developing strategic sourcing strategies

  • Working within the governance model, ensuring procurement methodologies and standards are maintained,

    appropriate, and complied with, and risks are appropriately managed.

  

What you bring

  • 5+ years of experience in an IT Procurement related role with competence and a proven ability to build and

    execute category strategies.

  • Ability to structure RFPs, execute and evaluate RFPs against a broad set of evaluation criteria and provide

    recommendations for vendor selection. Experience with larger, more complex RFPs is desirable.

  • Have a successful track record of delivering significant cost savings and broader commercial benefits

    throughout the deal-making process.

  • Product knowledge including Hardware, Software, Storage, Telecoms, Professional Services, and Maintenance.

  • Holds a Professional Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS) or working

    towards a business degree or equivalent.

  • Results-driven and highly customer-focused; concerned with meeting, and exceeding, customer expectations.
