Role purpose:

Reporting into the Group Financial Controller, this role sits alongside the centres of expertise of Tax and Treasury. 

The UK Statutory Accountant will support the Group Financial Controller to ensure LRQA Group and subsidiary statutory accounts comply with regulations, are filed on time and the process to prepare them is sufficiently robust.  The team owns the Group Finance Manual and Chart of Accounts and works across the finance function to ensure a robust system of financial control is in place through management and review of monthly management accounts. 


This role provides advice on a wide range of accounting issues including corporate entity simplifications, merger and acquisitions activity (through analysing results, review of completion accounts and post-acquisition accounting and system integration; and continuous process improvement. 



You Will:

  • Support the preparation of the statutory accounts for the group and all subsidiaries to ensure they are reviewed and comply with FRS102, the UK Companies Act and are filed in line with the internal timetable.
  • Consolidate the Group accounts as part of the monthly close process.
  • Support Group Finance Accounting team in enhancements to the Consolidation system.
  • Liaise with UK & Group external auditors, other professional advisers and monitor foreign local audits as requested by the Group Financial Controller.
  • Support Statutory financial statement reconciliations across the group, ensuring this is both complete and consistent across all entities as requested.
  • Liaise with and provide support across the Finance function
  • Close collaboration with other teams in Group Finance (Group tax, Group Treasury and Group FP&A.)
  • Provide in-house expert advice on UK GAAP (FRS102), and other legislation as appropriate
  • Adhoc projects as requested by the Group Financial Controller.



You Will Need.

  • [Essential] Experience of the close process, consolidation and production of Group financial statements for an international multicurrency business.
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with demonstrable up-to-date knowledge of:
    • [Required]: Companies Act; UK GAAP (FRS102); and
    • [Required]: Experience of auditing/operating in an international finance function.
  • Experience of ERP and Management Information Systems at a ‘hands on’ level.
  • Ability to explain complex accounting & financial reporting standards and the implications of their application, simply and concisely to senior managers.
  • Needs to be confident; influential; and be regarded as a trusted and credible resource by key stakeholders within finance.
  • Needs to be culturally sensitive in implementing initiatives and solutions across teams in different Areas and Business Streams.
  • An enthusiastic and committed team player who can establish and maintain strong relationships with business leaders and across the Finance teams.
  • Have a ‘hands on’ approach, visible across the businesses with good communication and other interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective networks and relationships, both internally and externally and use these to inform organisational direction.
  • Ability to drive results and operate effectively, demonstrating a sound skill in dealing with ambiguity.
