Who we are looking for
We are seeking a passionate and driven Research and Analytical Lead to join our team for an initial one-year contract (with the possibility of extension). This mid-senior role will be critical to supporting the delivery of our Fuel Adoption Programme, focused on accelerating the scalable uptake of sustainable maritime fuels. Working across three strategic pillars — Evidence and Insights for Action, Investment Models for Market Creation and Scaling Up, and System Alignment and National/Regional Policy Leverage — this role offers the opportunity to shape solutions to systemic market failures and support a just and effective maritime energy transition.
What we offer you
The opportunity to work for an organization that has a strong sense of purpose with a mission to engineer a safer and sustainable world.
You will be part of a mission-driven team working at the forefront of maritime decarbonisation. Your work will directly contribute to addressing some of the most critical market failures blocking the adoption of sustainable fuels, helping catalyse a safer, cleaner, and more inclusive global energy transition.
The role
Key responsibilities:
- Develop decision-support tools and frameworks to support evidence-based interventions and policy alignment
- Conduct technical research to engage with strategic partners
- Support strategic convenings, workshops, and working groups to accelerate multi-fuel adoption pathways and facilitate cross-sector collaborations between maritime, energy, finance, and government stakeholders.
Investment Models
- Support the development and promotion of innovative financing models to unlock private and public capital.
- Contribute to the design and testing of innovative financing models and PPPs that address early-stage project risks.
System Alignment
- Support modelling and analysis of fuel adoption pathways and infrastructure needs at port, including land-based co-benefits
- Contribute to the development of regional transition roadmaps and energy hub concepts.
You are someone who has:
- 4–8 years of experience in programme management, strategy consulting, energy transition, sustainable finance, maritime, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of the maritime sector, energy systems, sustainable fuels, or climate finance.
- Track record of delivering complex projects with multiple stakeholders across public and private sectors.
- Technical literacy in maritime decarbonisation (e.g. alternative fuels, port infrastructure, energy systems)
- Experience working with data and models (especially around fuel pathways, cost structures, or emissions modelling)
- Excellent research, analysis, and communication skills — the ability to turn complex information into actionable outputs for a diverse group of stakeholders including policymakers, maritime, energy, finance actors
- Strategic thinker with an entrepreneurial, proactive, and collaborative mindset.
- Experience working in an international and cross-cultural context.
- Passion for sustainability, innovation, and systems change and Just and Equitable Transition
- Experience in action-orientated non-profit, NGO or charities preferred but not required
Terms:
- Contract: Full-time, 1-year contract (with possibility of extension based on performance and funding).
- Reporting to: Director of Fuel Adoption Programme.
- Start Date: As soon as possible.
- Compensation: Competitive, based on experience and location.
