As part of your role, you will follow-up during manufacturing process of marine materials, equipments and components, and confirm their quality by witnessing standard tests and carrying inspections against Lloyd’s Register Rules, agreed Codes, Standards, specifications, procedures, using experience and knowledge appropriate for routine situations.

The role
- Be involved in direct surveys of mechanical or electrical parts and components for the use in a maritime or industry environment at manufacturer’s works and periodical or initial inspections of manufacturer’s works.
- Conduct Surveyor relevant activities, undertake project management and provide advice for service delivery within own area of experience, adhering to budget constraints and contractual requirements.
- Perform assessments and provide advice for service delivery within agreed parameters that include budget constraints and contractual requirements.
- Produce the deliverable within the agreed parameters in a defined format.
- Discuss/present the deliverable with the external clients and assess alternative solutions where appropriate.
- Undertake routine administration as required in line with current processes and procedures.
- Assess/ recommend the time/value of the work to be undertaken for an external client within an agreed fee/cost structure and issue quotations up to an agreed limit and Lloyd’s Register’s standard terms and conditions (e.g. Commercial Notice).
- Pursue Continuing Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards.
- Give technical guidance to other employees, as appropriate, and disseminate information to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application.
- Assist in service delivery improvement by communicating to internal/external client feedback as appropriate.
Key Health & Safety Responsibilities:
- Assess the risks and work in a safe manner at all times, robustly implementing health and safety rules, instructions and systems and refuse to undertake work that compromises your safety or health.
- Report in a timely manner all incidents including near miss and safety observations (NMSO), accidents and injuries and raise any health and safety concerns with your line manager.
What you bring
- A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd’s Register from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship’s Engineer officer.
- Preferably of over 2 years of relevant industry experience in a multinational organization.
- Membership of an appropriate professional institution (I. Eng or equivalent).
- Working towards or achieving charted or incorporated engineering status.
- Ability to work in accordance to professional codes of conduct and the LR Code of Ethics in IMS01.
- Ability to combine generic and specialist engineering knowledge
- In depth technical business understanding and ability to optimise the application of existing and emerging technology.
- Ability to apply appropriate theoretical and practical methodolgy towards the analysis of root cause of engineering issues and problem solving.
- Ability to provide technical and commercial direction operating as a Lead within the responsibilities assigned.
- Excellent command (written and oral) in English language using relevant professional terminology, fluency in French language is considered an advantage;
- European Driving License.
- Ability and willingness to travel within the area and on a case by case basis.
Preferred but not required:
- Previous experience in a classification society and exposure to Marine & Offshore field is highly preferred.
- Preferably a qualified member of a recognised professional body eg www.nspe.org, www.cae.cn, www.engc.org.uk, www.ecindia.org.

- Is customer focused and driven to achieve excellent customer service.
