Lloyds Register require an experienced Professional Engineer who is capable of working independently and part of a team of multi discipline engineers.

 

The Role

Plan appraisal of marine piping systems including the components covering Class requirements as per LR Ship Rules / LR Naval Rules, IMO/IACS requirements as well as MOD requirements.  
 
Job Experience and Technical Knowledge
- Design knowledge and understanding of marine piping systems and associated areas of engineering as per Class Rules.
- Knowledge on design / arrangement / installation of marine components such as engines, propulsion system, pumps and pumping systems, compressors, pressure vessels and various piping systems.
- Understanding and practice of strength calculations of components.
- Understanding of risks/hazards related to arrangements and installation.
- Awareness on Class Regulations and Class Notations.
- Conversant with IMO Conventions, MSC/Circulars, MEPC Circulars, Important Flag state requirements, IACS UR/UI. 
- Overview of construction of components and assembles including fabrication practices and testing methods / NDE
- Overview of the interfaces with other disciplines e.g. structures, fire & Safety, electrotechnical, materials, statutory requirements
- Experience of Naval vessels and arrangement and MOD requirements/practices would be an added advantage

 

Technical / Professional qualification:
A degree or equivalent( preferably in mechanical or marine engineering) from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd’s Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of two years programme) or Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience as a certificated ship’s officer.
Membership of an appropriate professional institution and working towards achieving Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.

- Have good engagement with multi discipline team members to share knowledge, experience and lessons.
- Be enthusiastic to learn and develope.
- Contribute to Class Rules and Regulations developments and amendment to support the business.
- Have an awareness of allocated budget and its control.
- Be open to travel to site/client and other offices for business.

 
Ability to gain at least basic level MOD security clearance with background and experience of Naval ships preferable.
