About this role:

This position requires frequent travel to islands in the Caribbean and outside of area on occasional basis. Meanwhile, you will pursue continuous professional development to remain fully knowledgeable about the technical considerations that are pertinent to clients and classification society rules understanding and interpreting national and international rules and regulations applicable for marine assets,  You will always assess all risks and work in a safe manner, reporting in a timely manner all incidents including near miss and safety observations.

 

You will have:

  •  One to two years of experience working as a marine surveyor at an IACS marine classification society and significant technical competence in existing ship and associated statutory requirements
  • A degree or equivalent within a relevant field of study such as marine engineering  
  • Thorough understanding of the shipping market and marine environment
  • Ability to participate in and add value to marine technical discussions with clients and LR colleagues
  • Ability to travel throughout the region
  • Organizational and planning skills, ability to prioritize to meet deadlines
  • Surveys of all types of ships during construction and during service life
  • Surveys of material and equipment intended for marine applications at manufacturers works and laboratories
  • Intermediate or advanced experience using MS Office suite of products: Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Experience as a passenger ship surveyor would be an advantage
