We are seeking individuals who can manage the execution of plan appraisal and certification services in alignment with relevant international standards such as MARPOL Annex II, IBC Code, etc. Additionally, the role involves offering technical support to ship designers and operators.

The role 

 

  • Execute plan appraisal and certification services in compliance with relevant international standards (MARPOL Annex II, IBC Code, etc.) for both new construction and existing Chemical & Product tankers.
  • Perform activities in accordance with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Propose enhancements to service delivery effectiveness by suggesting changes to processes or work scope, aiming for a reduction in appraisal effort where applicable.
  • Engage in technical discussions and provide guidance to both internal and external clients. Present deliverables to clients, discussing and offering solutions as needed.
  • Assess and recommend the time and value of work for internal or external clients within agreed fee and cost structures.
  • Handle administrative tasks as required, aligning with current processes and procedures.
  • Pursue Continuous Professional Development, ensuring a high level of discipline, knowledge, and awareness.
  • Coach less experienced colleagues and serve as a mentor, as agreed upon with the line manager.

 

 

 

What you bring 

 

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in in an engineering discipline or Marine service background with experience of working on Chemical or Product tankers.
  • Relevant Experience in the approval of MARPOL Annex II and IBC code related plans and certifications and/or experience/knowledge in the cargo handling or survey operations on board Chemical / Product tankers is required.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, to prioritise work and meet LR and Clients’ deadlines, and to work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to multi-task, planning and organising with good time management skills. Good skill to conduct technical conversation with clients and maintain good relationships with client with client focus mind-set.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving with a flexible attitude with the ability to remain calm under pressure and get the job done.
  • Experience and ability of working across different nationalities and cultures.
  • Proficiency in the English language commensurate with the requirements of the work, along with effective interpersonal skills.
