What we’re looking for 

 

We are seeking a Lead Cyber Security Specialist with deep knowledge of cyber security to support and guide our introduction of Classification Rules related to industrial operational technology cyber safety and security (we are implementing IACS Unified Requirements E26 and E27 into LR Rules). Whilst the team is based in the Southampton Global Technology Centre, UK, the successful candidate could report to the team remotely and be based in another location.

 

As a Maritime cyber security lead specialist, you will lead the development of LR’s capability to provide the expert specialist technical advice that customers expect from Llo­yd’s Register. This involves supporting the development of effective cyber security approaches throughout LR’s Rules and assurance products.

The role 

 

  • Apply your technical expertise to assess and provide assurance regarding cyber security and cyber safety engineering aspects of our client’s assets, which can scale from components to systems of systems. This may include onshore infrastructure.
  • Lead the development of LR processes in this fast-moving technology area.
  • Take a cross-disciplinary approach with colleagues from systems engineering and human-factors disciplines in addressing system availability, integrity, and operability metrics to ensure that seafarer wellbeing and safety is uncompromised when implementing cyber security.
  • Identify client needs and review their requirements to plan and develop appropriate services.
  • Train service delivery and technical sales colleagues and participate in meetings associated with client services, help establish which assurance services are appropriate for customer’s cyber security strategies and provide scoping assistance for projects.
  • Participate in and present to various stakeholder forums as LR’s subject matter expert.
  • Take personal responsibility for identifying and continually seeking improvements to our service delivery and classification framework development.
  • Maintain your Continuing Professional Development and a broad degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Assist with building a collaborative team and upskilling of LR’s cyber security capability across the globe.

 

 

What you bring 

 

  • Demonstrable understanding of cyber security for OT systems in a safety critical environment, gained through experience and/or training, and an understanding of the compromises needed to achieve both performance and security targets.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory and standardised assurance approaches used to verify and validate the safety and security of assets operating as a part of the Ocean Economy.
  • A degree or equivalent experience recognised by Lloyd’s Register in a suitable engineering discipline, ideally within the computer science, electrical engineering or a systems engineering domain.
  • Experience and practical skills in the domain of scalable IT-infrastructure and networks.
  • Experience with Industrial IT, network / fieldbus backbones, and protocols.
  • Experience with various forms of cryptography standards.
  • Understanding of the benefits and usage of penetration testing.
  • Eagerness to learn from adjacent fields of engineering to develop a broad understanding of maritime operations in a systems & human factors context.
  • Relevant working experience with IT and or Distributed Industrial Control.
  • To be working towards or have attained various certifications within industrial cyber security, such as the ISA/IEC 62443 or similar with an emphasis on OT-security.
  • Experience in cyber security assurance, consulting and support roles is considered a benefit.
  • Experience in security-based risk assessment methods is considered a benefit. Such should incorporate both qualitative and quantitative risk quantification skills.
  • Experience in wireless technologies such as WiFi, Satellite communication, 5G and Bluetooth is considering a benefit.
  • To be available to travel internationally.
