What we’re looking for

As Senior Instructional Designer, you will play a pivotal role in our journey to design, develop, implement, and innovate learning interventions. These interventions are designed to empower our clients with the skills, knowledge, and behaviors required in the rapidly evolving maritime industry. You'll collaborate with diverse stakeholders, harness cutting-edge technology, analyze performance and development needs, employ evidence-based practices, and effectively convey your ideas. Throughout this process, you'll have unwavering support from the Global Maritime Training Services team—a team of learning and development experts continually focused on enhancing our clients' experiences. Your mission is to make learning effortless, accessible, pertinent, and impactful for our clients.

The ideal candidate for this role should possess a fervent passion for professional development, embrace technological advancements with enthusiasm, and demonstrate exceptional abilities in shaping and guiding the development and delivery of training. Additionally, strong organizational skills, adept time management, and excellent communication abilities are essential qualities we seek.

 What we offer you

  • A flexible working arrangement in a co-working office space with other LR colleagues
  • An attractive salary package.
  • The opportunity to work for an organization that has a strong sense of purpose, is values driven and helps colleagues to develop professionally and personally through our range of people development programmes.

The role

  • Develop both asynchronous and synchronous learning experiences, encompassing classroom sessions, virtual courses, eLearning modules, instructor-led training, videos, simulations, instructional guides, learner handouts, and more.
  • Generate client learning resources that can be readily scaled and integrated across the training portfolio, including self-paced learning materials such as videos, eLearning modules, and handouts.
  • Create interactive learning experiences designed to enhance knowledge retention and drive behavior change. Utilize elements like gamification, simulations, knowledge validation assessments, and hands-on learning to achieve this goal.
  • Implement best-in-class instructional design processes to ensure the creation of high-quality learning resources. This involves leveraging methodologies such as ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), the Kirkpatrick Measurement Model, Design Thinking, Adult Learning Theory, and others.
  • Conduct thorough learning needs analyses to identify learning gaps, define objectives, and determine the most suitable delivery modality.
  • Collaborate closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and various internal stakeholders to translate complex concepts into easily understandable and engaging learning materials.
  • Continuously maintain and update existing training materials based on learner feedback and insights derived from data analysis.
  • Develop approachable and interactive scripts for live instructor-led training sessions (facilitator guides) and eLearning modules.
  • Proactively engage with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for creating new and enhancing existing learning content.

What you bring

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology (EdTech), or a related field (Possessing a Master's degree is a valuable asset).
  • A solid background and relevant years of experience in instructional design.
  • Proficiency in authoring tools like Articulate Storyline & Rise, Adobe Captivate, or similar software.
  • Competence in using Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign and Illustrator, as well as proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and their capabilities, including SCORM compliance.
  • The ability to create project storyboards and develop scripts effectively.
  • Strong technical writing skills, enabling clear and effective communication in written, verbal, and visual forms using the English language.
  • A proven ability to collaborate effectively as part of a geographically dispersed team.
  • The capability to present examples of work or a portfolio showcasing your expertise.
  • While not mandatory, experience in the engineering or high technology industry is a valuable asset.
  • Proficiency in video, audio, and animation production, and experience in graphic design are considered advantageous.
