What we’re looking for 

The Technical Support Office (TSO) offers a global service for plan approval to shipbuilders, ship owners, and manufacturers. The desired qualifications for this role involve conducting plan approval and certifying marine pollution prevention equipment and statutory plans. This should be done in accordance with relevant international standards such as MARPOL, MEPC, etc. The process should employ appropriate procedures, experience, and knowledge pertinent to the design assessment of plans concerning the mentioned areas for vessels in various stages like new construction, conversion, or already in service.

The role 

  • Conducting the approval of plans and certifying marine pollution prevention-related equipment and statutory plans in alignment with relevant Lloyd’s Register Rules & Regulations, Statutory Regulations, and International Standards.
  • Keeping track of updates to Statutory, Rule, and Flag requirements, and implementing these revisions as necessary.
  • Cultivating and nurturing positive relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Offering technical guidance to both internal and external clients.
  • Engaging in discussions and presentations of deliverables with internal and external clients, and when appropriate, proposing solutions.
  • Managing projects when applicable, which includes overseeing project progress and monitoring expenditures against budgets and contractual stipulations.
  • Providing guidance to less experienced colleagues through coaching and acting as a mentor as established with the line manager.

 

 

 

 

What you bring 

 

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical/Marine Engineering or its equivalent. Alternatively, a marine service background with hands-on experience on Oil & Chemical tankers, General cargo vessels, or Bulk carriers.
  • Applicable years of experience in areas like designing, operating, manufacturing, or securing approvals for equipment involved in marine pollution prevention. This experience should come from various sources including shipyards, classification societies, ship owners, designers, manufacturers, etc.
  • Preferred familiarity with Quality Assurance systems.
  • The capacity to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team, effectively prioritize tasks, meet deadlines set by both LR and clients, and perform well under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to cultivate client relationships with a customer-focused approach.
  • Proficiency in the English language that aligns with the demands of the job, along with the ability to demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills.
