What we’re looking for 

We are looking for professionals who can execute of plan approval and certification procedures for equipment aimed at preventing marine pollution, along with the assessment of statutory plans. This must be done in alignment with relevant international standards such as MARPOL and MEPC. Your tasks will involve applying appropriate procedures, experience, and expertise to evaluate design plans related to these aspects for newly constructed, converted, or in-service vessels.

The role 

  • Carry out the approval of plans and certification for marine pollution prevention equipment and statutory plans. Ensure adherence to Lloyd’s Register Rules & Regulations, Statutory Regulations, and International Standards while staying within defined parameters, including budget limitations and contractual obligations.
  • Execute tasks in accordance with internal protocols, accreditation schemes, legal requirements, and industry benchmarks.
  • Propose enhancements to improve the efficiency of service delivery, including changes to processes or scope of work that can lead to reduced appraisal efforts when applicable.
  • Contribute to service enhancement by appropriately relaying feedback from internal and external clients.
  • Evaluate and recommend the appropriate time and value of work to be conducted for both internal and external clients, following agreed-upon fee structures.
  • Perform necessary administrative tasks following current procedures and protocols.
  • Maintain a commitment to Continuous Professional Development, ensuring a high level of discipline, knowledge, and awareness.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced colleagues through coaching and mentorship, in alignment with directives from the line manager.

 

 

What you bring 

 

  • A degree or its equivalent from a tertiary institution acknowledged by Lloyd’s Register in a relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of a two-year program). Alternatively, qualifications from a maritime or nautical institution, coupled with pertinent sea-going involvement as a certified ship's officer or engineer.
  • Substantial years of experience in the realm of designing, operating, manufacturing, or obtaining approvals for equipment related to marine pollution prevention, as well as statutory manuals, originating from entities like shipyards, classification societies, ship owners, designers, manufacturers, etc. Applicants with less experience will also be considered, albeit at a lower position grade.
  • Exhibit a sound comprehension of the maritime sector.
  • Proficiency in multitasking, coupled with strong planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proficient command of the English language, suitable for the job, and an ability to showcase effective interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive problem-solving approach, along with flexibility and composure under pressure, ensuring task completion.
  • Experience and adeptness in collaborating across diverse nationalities and cultures.
