What we’re looking for 

 

We are seeking individuals capable of performing the role of evaluating ship structures, with a particular focus on Ships in Service and Marine Equipment & Components (MEC). This evaluation should adhere to LR Rules and international standards. The ideal candidates should bring with them the requisite procedures, experience, and expertise necessary to conduct design assessments for various scenarios, including new construction, conversions, and existing vessels. Additionally, we highly appreciate candidates who can provide technical assistance to ship designers, operators, and other relevant stakeholders in the realm of ships and marine platforms.

The role 

 

  • Evaluate and appraise the design of hull structural plans for modifications, retrofits, conversions, and Marine Equipment & Component (MEC) structures. Ensure compliance with LR's Rules and relevant international/national technical standards for Ships in Service and MEC structures.
  • Offer technical guidance and advice to LR field surveyors and clients on matters pertaining to Lloyd’s Register Rules, as well as national or international standards and Flag requirements within areas of technical expertise.
  • Foster and sustain positive relationships with our clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Engage in technical discussions and provide expert guidance to both internal and external clients.
  • Discuss and present deliverables to internal and external clients, offering solutions when necessary.
  • Execute activities in accordance with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, applicable legislation, and industry standards.

 

 

 

 

What you bring 

 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Naval Architecture, Ship Design, Shipbuilding, or a related field, or possess equivalent qualifications. Alternatively, have Chartered or Professional qualifications and be a member of a relevant professional institution.
  • Bring relevant experience in basic ship structure design and plan appraisal, complemented by practical hands-on experience.
  • Possess a deep understanding of ship structure design principles, structural idealization, loadings relevant to ship structures, and the governing requirements of Class rules.
  • Demonstrate experience in structural analysis, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of ship structures. Proficiency in commonly used FEA software is advantageous.
  • Exhibit the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Be skilled at prioritizing tasks to meet Lloyd’s Register and clients' deadlines, even in high-pressure situations.
  • Possess effective communication skills for conducting technical conversations with clients. Maintain strong client relationships with a client-focused approach.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the English language, suitable for the demands of the role, and showcase effective interpersonal skills.
